It is kind of strange to leave out Azazel, because I assumed the only reason they put him in First Class was to set him up with Mystique.

lol Duran...
It would be ashamed if Banshee and Havoc weren't coming back...I mean since Beast is, why can't they?
Maybe because they didn't get proper character development in First Class and it wouldn't disappoint a lot of fans if they don't comeback. I don't think the casual viewers even cared about them.
Well, then they'd just be exchanging them for another set of characters who aren't likely to get much development in this busy movie and who don't have any history with the returning main characters, which Banshee and Havok at least do.
I feel the same. Im really surprised he's out, specially taking into account that Singer has expressed how Nightcrawler is one of his fave x-men, if not his fave, and that he included Azazel because he like the concept of both, a demon looking mutant with teleporting habilities.... Im dissapointed with this, definetly
Just because you feel that way, doesn't mean the writers and Singer feel that way too. Senator Kelly and Stryker were both human and both interesting. The X2 president was interesting enough, but he wasn't a major storyline character for that movie. Singer has said that Nixon would a relatively important character in this film, so yes, he could count as a major role.
The parents and son thing is never gonna happen. Azazel didn't even have a big role in First Class.
so just because a character has a small role on the first movie, he cant have an arc during the series?
solid point, for sure.
Yeah spitting fireballs was also mighty silly. Why would wings go together with fireballs anyway?
Yes sir, both of the black mutants written out.![]()

Yes. In exchange for Halle and Omar...stronger actors and vastly stronger characters.![]()
I don't think that the loss of Hellfire Club is a big loss at all. I'm pretty happy with Angel not returning in particular; the best thing about her in FC was that strip club scene but I just always found her dragonfly wings too silly for words. Even in a movie with superpowers, blue/red-skinned mutants etc.
I guess that after DoFP they won't be doing another time travel X-Men movie for a while, so it's possible that they'll add elements from other stories about time travel while they're at it.
We don't actually know yet what character Omar is playing. And in Storm's case, it would have to be a pretty damn major improvement, acting and writing-wise, for her to qualify as "vastly stronger".
It'll be hardly difficult to top anything Angel "Spit wad" Salvadore provided in that film.![]()

I guess they only wanted him for his abilities after all. What a waste.
With the exception of X2 (mute Deathstrike only character really used for powers only) they have overdone this in every movie. It's getting old.
I'm hoping they do something a bit different with Blink and actually give her some character cause otherwise she's just gonna be the same deal and gone in the next film. I've already seen two pointy eared, funky colored teleporters. They better have a good reason for bringing another one in and not using the others.
If they didn't explain that in DOFP on what happened to those 4 mutants, its gonna be a question mark to those who remembered the ending of First Class. And before someone bring up the "its been 11 years, anything could happen" reason again, let me just say that its a lazy way to remove a character.
I'm pretty relieved that they're not setting up Mystique and Azazel together. No offence to Jason Flemyng but he's like twice Jennifer's age.
