It is kind of strange to leave out Azazel, because I assumed the only reason they put him in First Class was to set him up with Mystique.

I guess they only wanted him for his abilities after all. What a waste.

I'm pretty relieved that they're not setting up Mystique and Azazel together. No offence to Jason Flemyng but he's like twice Jennifer's age.

I feel the same. Im really surprised he's out, specially taking into account that Singer has expressed how Nightcrawler is one of his fave x-men, if not his fave, and that he included Azazel because he like the concept of both, a demon looking mutant with teleporting habilities....

Im dissapointed with this, definetly

lol Duran...

It would be ashamed if Banshee and Havoc weren't coming back...I mean since Beast is, why can't they?

Maybe because they didn't get proper character development in First Class and it wouldn't disappoint a lot of fans if they don't comeback. I don't think the casual viewers even cared about them.

The one good thing I take out of this is that Angel Salvadore isn't coming back. She was terrible.

Yes sir, both of the black mutants written out. :o

Well, then they'd just be exchanging them for another set of characters who aren't likely to get much development in this busy movie and who don't have any history with the returning main characters, which Banshee and Havok at least do.

Yeah I'd rather want them to keep Banshee and Havok than to add new characters to the 70s X-Men.

The parents and son thing is never gonna happen. Azazel didn't even have a big role in First Class.

Havok and Banshee had cooler scenes than Iceman in the the first two movies. And thats something they achieved with FC.

And like I said some months ago, my young cousin of 10 years old told me Havok was his fave character of the movie.

I was really surprised to hear that, so its not like Havok was a bad character at all. In fact, as we have seen on the board, many fans want him back, same as Banshee. Just to have them on only one movie dont feel right.

We have discussed this many times, but..... its sad how they treat some characters on this franchise.

Just because you feel that way, doesn't mean the writers and Singer feel that way too. Senator Kelly and Stryker were both human and both interesting. The X2 president was interesting enough, but he wasn't a major storyline character for that movie. Singer has said that Nixon would a relatively important character in this film, so yes, he could count as a major role.

Senator Kelly and Stryker are different to the US presidents that appeared in X2 and X3 simply because Senator Kelly and Stryker are characters from the comics.

And I didn't say the writers and Singer are not interested with human characters because I think those characters aren't interesting to me, I was just asking people here if they were interested to the Presidents that appeared in X2/X3.

so just because a character has a small role on the first movie, he cant have an arc during the series?

solid point, for sure.

Well if you are thinking realistically, you could tell that by just watching First Class, there was no indication that Mystique/Azazel were gonna be in a relationship and have a baby. And in X2, there was no indication that Mystique is the mother of Nightcrawler.

We already discussed this before and what you want is never gonna happen simply because movie adaptations are limited to stories/ideas and they can't include every single thing that happened in the comic-books. There will be differences and you aren't thinking straight if you think Bryan Singer and the crew can just adapt everything.

Why would wings go together with fireballs anyway?

Yes sir, both of the black mutants written out. :o

Except Storm and Omar Sy.

I should have said, why would dragonfly wings and fireballs go together.

Unless they were making some kind of lame pun on dragonfly wings.

Yes. In exchange for Halle and Omar...stronger actors and vastly stronger characters.

We don't actually know yet what character Omar is playing. And in Storm's case, it would have to be a pretty damn major improvement, acting and writing-wise, for her to qualify as "vastly stronger".

I don't think that the loss of Hellfire Club is a big loss at all. I'm pretty happy with Angel not returning in particular; the best thing about her in FC was that strip club scene but I just always found her dragonfly wings too silly for words. Even in a movie with superpowers, blue/red-skinned mutants etc.

I guess that after DoFP they won't be doing another time travel X-Men movie for a while, so it's possible that they'll add elements from other stories about time travel while they're at it.

The Hellfire Club is definitely not a big loss because it felt like the Hellfire Club was over when Magneto killed Shaw. I just wish they didn't show Azazel, Riptide and Angel Salvadore siding with Magneto and Magneto letting Emma Frost out of the prison.

If they didn't explain that in DOFP on what happened to those 4 mutants, its gonna be a question mark to those who remembered the ending of First Class. And before someone bring up the "its been 11 years, anything could happen" reason again, let me just say that its a lazy way to remove a character.

It'll be hardly difficult to top anything Angel "Spit wad" Salvadore provided in that film. :whatever:

I guess they only wanted him for his abilities after all. What a waste.

With the exception of X2 (mute Deathstrike only character really used for powers only) they have overdone this in every movie. It's getting old.

I'm hoping they do something a bit different with Blink and actually give her some character cause otherwise she's just gonna be the same deal and gone in the next film. I've already seen two pointy eared, funky colored teleporters. They better have a good reason for bringing another one in and not using the others.

What are they going to be able to do with Blink without AoA and her relationship w/Sabertooth though, aside from change her around so she isn't really Blink anymore?

Part of the problem is they keep trying to cram in more and more characters while ignoring what makes them cool and interesting characters instead of flashy cameos.

I agree. Just too many characters have been wasted imo.

Emma Frost if not in the film is gonna be pretty much wasted as well. For such an important character in the MArvel universe the past decade they sure didn't act like she was. Just seems like they never set these characters up for future films ahead of time, even if it seems likes thats the plan in the current film.

Probably shouldnt complain with this film till after I see it and the cast is all in place, but sooner or later they will run out of characters and miss chances with stories they belong in.

I'd def rather see Blink in a AOA film. But hopefully they actually have plans for the future with some of these characters and are used for reason other then effect. Just make her crucial in some sort of way, otherwise wait to use her.

I agree it would have been an odd pairing, it's just funny since pretty much everyone thought that was the only reason they would use Azazel. Now I guess he's just a dude remarkably similar to Nightcrawler in terms of appearance and abilities with no relation whatsoever, unless they firmly establish Mystique can't be Nightcrawler's mom (which is possible).
