Comingsoon.net predicts a Box Office win for Maleficent.

A shame then since it lowers the possibly domestic take of DOFP.

Maybe Fox should start doing what disney Is by not allowing critics to see it
early If disney can do that and get huge box office for Maleficent.

It's obvious all critical and audence thumbs up means nothing for X-Men films.

Let's hope to god the drop for DOFP Is not like Godzilla.

If you mean Maleficent it's still strange if it has great word of mouth why 3 days
before it premieres not a single review.

I have seen pics of Angelana Jolie and Elle Fanning promating it but no reviews yet.

If 3 days before release there still were no reviews for DOFP some would say
something Is up.

I don't think it matters. The entertainment shows are hyping this movie up as Angelina's first film in a few years. Those shows love her and Brad Pitt.

Comingsoon.net is predicting a $40 million domestic haul for DOFP in week 2.

Dear god, do they ever let Hugh have a day off? I'm half-expecting Fox to send him to another premiere during the commercial breaks at the Tony Awards. :oldrazz:
That's why I think he IS a mutant!!! How exhausting! Meanwhile, boxoffice.com predicts a $61M opening for Maleficent.

A bit early to say isn't it? You're so pessimistic lol.

From the article:

"I expect Maleficent to have a solid opening weekend somewhere in the high $40 millions but possibly even reaching $50 million or more. Since last week's #1 X-Men: Days of Future Past will probably take a huge tumble after its Memorial Day weekend (which is fairly common), Jolie's return shouldn't have a problem taking the #1 spot either, although I don't expect word-of-mouth to be very good and it may be struggling its way to roughly $125 or 130 million."

I thought it was quite obvious that Maleficient would take #1 this week. It's a Disney film with Angelina Jolie.

Do you have any more posts of doom you'd like to share with the rest of the class??

I doubt that Domestic box office is a concern to Fox. It's the global numbers that matter.

Sounds about right? Have you gotten a chance to see DOFP yet?

Domestic adds to WW box office.

If Maleficent only gets 40 million and DOFP drops below that it Is a Godzilla type drop.

To get close to what the last stand got In 2006 It would better for DOFP to do 40 to 50 Million In second weekend.Under 40 million would be bad.

Tom Cruise's new movie Is getting good reviews and that may mean nothing too.

If DOFP gets 40 million, it will be a 56% drop, which isn't that bad. Godzilla dropped 67%, same as Last Stand did back in 2006.

Most Memorial Day releases seem to drop around 60% or so, so I wouldn't be surprised if DOFP did the same.

Too many new threads in this area. It's cluttered.

Well let's hope DOFP gets 40 Million then.

Hopefully when final numbers come out the 111 Million 4 day projection holds.

Wasn't planning on it. Just commenting on how many new threads are popping up that are unnecessary.

That's what happens when a new movie comes out. Lots of visitors to the section, lots of new threads. Rather than booting them all (and quite a few have been moved or trashed), we'll let them stick to see what catches interest. If they don't, they fall to the back of the section.

If you don't like it, come back in a few weeks once the opening weekend madness has died down.

Aw... people are excited, let them have their moment!

If they go 'hog wild', then Danoyse or another mod will do a bit of housework in here!

Exactly! I would be happy with a drop under 60%, that would be very good coming off Memorial Day weekend. Either way, this is going above $200 million domestically, which is great considering X3 was the last X-film to do so.

Saw it yesterday - enjoyed it! Meanwhile, Japan (notice the voice actress for Jennifer Lawrence):

Hugh Jackman is mobbed by fans in Japan as he promotes smash hit X-Men: Days Of Future Past
By Shyam Dodge

He's one of the biggest movie stars in the world.

And as his latest film X-Men: Days Of Future Past dominated theatres in America, Hugh Jackman made his way to Japan for the Tokyo premiere.
The 45-year-old, not surprisingly, made quite the splash as he arrived on the red carpet as a horde of eager fans rushed to the cordoned off area to snap pictures with their idol.

Stand in: The 45-year-old stole snaps with Jennifer Lawrence's voice stand-in for the Japanese version of the film Ayame Gorki

Jackman, who has portrayed the Wolverine character for each installment in the series, recently confessed he was embarrassed that he neglected to prepare his children for a nude scene in the film.

'It is actually really cool to watch it with them until you get to the moment where you're naked onscreen and you forgot to warn your almost nine-year-old daughter...And she says "Dad, why aren't you wearing underwear?"' the actor remarked to New York Daily News.
X-Men: Days Of Future Past unites the stars of the earlier films, including Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart, with the more recent gang, including Jennifer Lawrence and Michael Fassbender.

Well hopefully shortly Hugh can get a bit of rest for the tonys and the new peter pan he is doing.

The Tonys are next week. According to his Instagram, it looks like he was at Hedwig and the Angry Inch over the weekend. (I'm seeing that next week, can't wait!)

About Charles powers and walking:

In "The Last Stand" (1981), it was Jean to read his mind. She was using her powers, not Charles.
In "Origins" (1985), it was a mental projection.

But someone suggested:

"I think the existence of the serum suggests that Xavier (for a short while in the time periods of The Last Stand flashback and Origins) used smaller doses of the serum in order to walk and use his abilities simultaneously (possibly so he could actively recruit more to his cause)."

I spotted the same issue in Hank's speech. You can FIND an equilibrium via the serum, but Charles just overdid it.

Hugh's s hero on the red carpet!

here's something you don't see too often THIS early (didn't look to see if it's already posted but hey, I try. ;) )

I pretty much say the same thing to anyone who poses the question. DOFP gives the tools needed to draw your own conclusions however you want, so that it's easier to connect dots. It's the people that need things spelled out for them that are troublesome. Like my brother lol!

There is a serum and beast rightfully protects it. It's not a "cure" so it still works with x3. I can see the professor using a modified, non addictive version beast cooked up, to become active in recruiting more mutants for the x-men. Works for me.

At least until X-men: Apocalypse messes with it lol. We don't know how Xavier will recruit Jean,Cyke and storm yet!
