I'm totally fine with this influx of diverse heroes.
I realize that. Of the heroes I listed, Superman's Kryptonian, Wonder Woman's Themysciran, Wolverine's Canadian, and Thor's Asgardian. 4 non-Americans, 2 on each side.Darthphere said:Wolverine is Canadian.![]()

And Spider-Man's still the naive WASP from New York. Green Lantern introduced John Stewart around the same time the X-Men switched to the international team. There were other international characters at DC, too. It may have been your impression that Marvel was more diverse, but I don't really think that was the case. I think they've both been gaining diversity slowly but surely. They're also both kicking their diversification into overdrive now, it seems.Mogwai said:that's true, but i meant it more in the sense that marvel explored diversity first. like with the international x-men and gay characters like northstar. diversity was just never a part of say, superman comics. he's the naive, WASP from smallville.
TheCorpulent1 said:No, they just decided to throw 70+ issues of character development out the window and make her a Shiva clone while some other woman steps into the Bat-femme role.
TheCorpulent1 said:I think people are mostly just upset that established heroes are being bumped off to facilitate the diversification of DC's world. A shrinking Asian hero or a lesbian Bat family member is well and good, but do we really need to ditch great characters like Ray Palmer and Cassandra Cain to get them?

Yeah, imagine my disappointment when I first went there...The Question said:Awesome. Silly England, with they're not being populated entirely by supernatural beings.![]()
You have issues,.. deal with them please.GoldenAgeHero said:link
Sundays Arts & Leisure piece in the New York Times regarding diversity in American comic books not only included the first look at DCs new Batwoman character, accompanying the piece was a slideshow gallery featuring character designs of the highly-touted The Great Ten the Grant Morrison-conceived, Chinese government controlled superteam making their debut in a June issue of 52.
Here is a look at the images and the text descriptions of each character as described by the Times and/or the character sketch itself. Click on the images to open larger versions
click the link to look at the pics. im getting fairly irritated over this whole diverse thing, its like their pushing it in my face. isnt the new asian atom enough, damn!
Didn't we see Cassie's sister get killed in #149?Darthphere said:Its quite obvious its Cassie's sister acting like her.
he tried to defuse a heated response that didn't materialize by stating he was black.Harlekin said:Aren't you black, GAH?I figured you'd like to see more diversity.
