DC Relaunching Everything?

Thats what I've gathered. At least Crisis had some build up to a major shake up. This though is almost like getting told to move out without having time to pack up your things.

The weird part is how for an event that will supposedly radically alter their Universe DC has carefully structured Flashpoint as a stand alone entity with all the tie ins being mini-series that won't require readers of the main titles to pick them up. I mean the only ongoing tying into it is Booster Gold for christ sakes. Its just weird since DC and Marvel are usually so pushy with crossovers and imposing the story on almost every book they have. Why would they make an event with major ramifications feel so optional?

I think a lot of people are upset about the status quo changing but fail to realize that out of the whole line that DC published only the Batman and Green Lantern books were good. This is a balls-y move on DC's part and I approve of it.

Doom Patrol was good, very good. :(

I do find that weird, I read Booster Gold but I have so little interest in Flashpoint and I know very few people who are really interested in it (I don't know anyone IRL who is picking it up).

It's almost like the reboot announcement has been geared to try and gather some interest in Flashpoint itself because before it the event was in a big way going under the radar. Seems odd to spin off your entire line from something that didn't really grasp your readers imagination.

so three out of all their series...thats still unacceptable.

Actually I don't think the Green Lantern titles have been good for a while (surely no-one can claim post-Blackest Night has been good). So two series.

I just don't care about most of the other books. I love Batman and that's about it. There are simply ways to retool a book without rebooting and I'm sure they could have come up with some sort of silly name for an initiative centered around fixing books without screwing up stories in progress that are actually good. I'm not going to get angry and swear off DC forever. I will check out rebooted titles because its just unfair not to give it a chance even if it sounds asinine.

If worst comes to worst and it does suck I have no real worries. Most of these characters will prevail. Batman will still be around for decades whether in print or digital media. He survived Batman and Robin so I'm sure the character can survive this. As such I will not cry out that Batman is "RUINED FOREVER".

What I do resent is that it feels like DC has just maliciously walked in and torn up Grant Morrison's (as well as Snyder's) intricate floorplans for his Batman storyline in the midst of all this and essentially it will probably end up being a story with no ending or an incredibly rushed one.

I'd be surprised if Batman gets rebooted. But Batman has been the best it's ever been under Morrison and I can't understand why they would take that away from him.

from what I understand books that were good will remain that way...Batman and Robin and Batman Inc will remain as is...just like Green Lantern will also. I think people are freaking about because they mentioned there would be a Nightwing book and everyone assumed it's Dick...and it could be Tim or even Jason Todd

That would be nice but if the rumors about a new Nightwing #1, an Oracle-free Birds or Prey and a new Batgirl starring a wheelchair free Barbara Gordon are true then this is obviously not the case.

The only DC books that were worth a **** were Batman and Robin, Tec, Batman INC, Secret Six, Booster Gold, REBELS and Doom Patrol. The GLs, Flash, Superman, Wonder Woman, JSA, JLA, Titans... they're all mediocre at best, steaming piles at worst.

So the relaunch could be good.

A Gail Simone free Birds of Prey, which just means no-one will read it - just look at Gotham Sirens.

It's back to COIE reboot, you can't cherry pick books to not reboot. It's all or nothing, look at OYL, complete mess of an event no-one on the same page and left more confusion than anything (and most things were never explained or important).

My biggest problem is, I do not want to read Origins of characters for the next five years. They are by far the most boring parts of character stories.

Gotta say I won't miss Simone... she's yet to write a decent book...

I have a feeling you won't be reading origins for 5 years... There has to be some sort of "History of the DC Universe" coming out, with the individual titles doing a little embellishment...

I'm not saying cherry pick stuff to reboot. I'm saying that they put good writers on the characters that need them, no continuity reboot just new quality stories with the characters, things continue as they are for the characters with good books. Not too hard.

As for origin stories I think they should just have either a one shot special laying down the new universe (which I actually think would be a better lead in than a new Justice League book) or have a quick recap of the characters origin in the opening page of the first issues.

You may not like it but she is the sole reason for that books continued existence over the years. She has a large a popular fan following especially with women, who don't tend to read a lot of other books.

I can guarantee we'll have a lot origin books. DC adore them.

I wont be buying Birds of Prey if Simone isnt writing it as she's the reason i buy it. She writes the characters and stories I like

At the moment the only dc comic book i have any interest in buying is Batwoman as that is the only series and the only character I care about

I have no interest at all in any of these other series. Won't be buying Nightwing and definitely won't be buying Batgirl if its Barbara Gordon in the costume

And every rumour i have heard about the Superman reboot makes me

Not sure even Grant Morrison writing it can get me to read it

Simone is yet to write a decent book?!? Ridiculous statement.

Indulge me... Tell me what books she has written that are good, just so's I know what I'm up against here, cause I've never liked anything she did...

pretty much at this state all rumors and conjecture...but a Nightwing #1 doesnt mean its Dick Grayson as Nightwing. Could be Jason or Tim

Well Secret Six is one of a few constistantly great titles DC has been putting out. Her Wonder Woman is a favourite amongst Wonder Woman fans. She did a short, but highly praised run on Deadpool back at the turn of the century.

Can't say for sure, and I know this is a super dick move on my part, but why would DC even care what you think if that's how you are approaching this whole thing...?

Is there any book besides a no-relaunch Gail Simone BOP title that you even care about? If not, then I'd say sayonara from DC... Why worry about you and the 12 others with BOP on their pull list if that's the mentality...

Secret Six is the best comic book dc is currently publishing

Even its worst issue is still much better than anything else dc currently publishes

Simone has come out and stated she will be writing a book in the DCNu...just not BOP

I might buy that if it looks good

I hope it stars the Secret Six characters i like like Scandal Jeanette and Ragdoll

Like I said the Batwoman ongoing series is the only dc comic book I care about because she is the only dc character I care about

I will definitely be buying the Batwoman ongoing series when it starts in september

I might buy other dc comics too but at the moment none of them sound at all interesting to me apart from the Batwoman series

I might buy the Morrison Superman series if its good

And the new series Simone is writing

But that depends if i think they look good

Yeah, I get it...

Batwoman and Secret Six, and whatever else Gail Simone is writing...

Prepare for the worst. Cause, again, I don't think DC;s looking out for YOU specifically. I think you're part of their acceptable losses...
