Good to see the art in King's run of Batman is in good hands with Jones, that cover is gorgeous. Looks like it's a bit influenced by Batman's look in the Knightmare sequences in BvS, I was a big fan of that design. It'll be interesting to see what happens post-War of Jokes and Riddles with whatever Batman's deep dark secret is and with Selina's decision.

Well, they clearly weren't worried about the readers figuring out Manhattan was the big bad and Ozymandius is the hooded character. I'm just glad to hear him say he isn't using these characters as a gimmick. If this doesn't work out well they'll catch MAJOR backlash.

We don't know that Ozymandias is Oz.

In fact, I don't think he is at all. Too on the nose not to just say outright at this point.

Here's what he said:

While Johns remained pretty tight-lipped when it came to spoilers, he said that he enjoys writing a story where the smartest character in the DCU (Lex Luthor) interacts with the smartest character in the Watchmen universe. Johns stopped short of revealing the identity of the latter character, though he seemed to be alluding to Ozymandias.

That has to be Ozymandias. I certainly can't think of who else would be considered the "smartest character in the Watchman universe."

Just because Ozymandias is in the story doesn't mean that he's Mr. Oz. It's safe to assume that several Watchmen characters will show up.

This. Plus, the solicitations for one of the upcoming arcs for either Action or Superman made it sound like Oz's true identity is of significance to Clark. If it turns out to be Ozymandias, I can't imagine Clark's reaction being anything more than "Oh... hi, complete stranger from another universe."

I wonder if it's a jab at Marvel for not doing a Fantastic Four book... :sus

I love Lemire's indie stuff, but I've only read one or two of his superhero issues. Is he any good writing superheroes?

As a Hawkman/Girl/Woman fan, I have to ask

...why? why? why? Why did they have to go with that damned eternal reincarnation/eternal lovers/ancient Egyptians Hawks? Why did they have to kill off the simpler, better Thanagarian soldier version? Why can't we EVER get away from the convoluted Hawkman?

So Doomsday Clock will be a year long thing? My god the wait is going to be excruciating. But I'm definitely getting the hardcover trade once it's over.

I took it as he was going to be significant to Clark in his fight against Manhattan, but y'all are probably right. I just think they're actually playing this one straighter than alot of us expected. And since he said the showdown was gonna be Superman vs Manhattan, Ozymandias's help just seems to make the most sense to me. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Ok...I'm feeling like a dumbass here... I see the Flash, GL, Aquachick, but who are the others mimicking?

Edit: ok, so we've got WW and Cyborg as well, but who's the ****ing brute in the middle? Superman (Doomsday)?!

I hope Metal ends up being decent but right now I could care less about this stupid event that seems to be nothing more than Scott Snyder stroking his own ego with a crappy story.

Call me crazy, but I'm digging Metal so far.
