If/when Batman v Superman destroys the box office how likely is it that WB will give DC it's own studio a la Disney's deal with Marvel?

I think this should be a priority for the folks at DC/Warner Bros. WB will have more time/resources to dedicate to budding IPs and tentpoles while giving DC the autonomy it deserves. DC would finally be able to generate their own funds for DC related media.

Thoughts?

Very unlikely IMO. If Warner Bros. didn't give DC Entertainment the autonomy it needs after the success of the Nolan Batman films, I doubt they will give it autonomy after Batman v Superman. Also, I think that instead of being a well oiled machine where everything complements everything like the Walt Disney Company, Time Warner is the complete opposite organizationally and instead of fixing it, keeps making boneheaded move after boneheaded move to create a media company on par with the Walt Disney Company and Comcast.

Another thing to remember is that Disney didn't give Marvel its own studio and autonomy: Marvel created its own studio and even now that Marvel's owned by Disney, Marvel Studios still has complete autonomy.

I guess it would be a bit harder for DC to create it's own studio since they're owned by WB: that is a very good question though: I too wonder what would need to happen for WB to give DC its own studio. I'd love to see what DC movies actually produced by DC would look like and how they would differ from the WB produced films.

WB execs can give directors of DC films as much freedom as they want to right now, with or without a separate DC brand. I don't see how creating a new studio means more resources either.

The only reason I can see for doing this would be if BvS is a huge success and they want to utilize a DC Studios name just for branding purposes (but it wouldn't necessarily change anything internally).

We're talking about the people who are responsible for and passionate about writing the comics being in control of making the movies based on said comics as opposed to outsiders. I for one think that could be amazing!

If Marvel can do do it, why not DC?
