DCU Dark

No problem :)

Did you like Demon Knights issue one

didn't read it..........lol

and........don't think I'd be that interested in it.......:ninja:

the only Dark book I find myself interested in is JL Dark.

JL Dark does look amazing  I love pretty much all the characters who are going to be on the team so I've got a good feeling about this

I can really recommend the 'Dark' titles Demon Knights and Frankenstein too but if they're not your cup of tea fair enough

I'm disappointed that we already have a fill-in artist for Swamp Thing. Even more upsetting is that it's not even Francesco Francavilla who was announced to be doing fill-ins. I'm going to assume that he's more story specific with issues that will match his style.

The DCU Dark line has been great

Depending on how much I like Justice League Dark, I might use it as a basis for future back catalogue reading.

I've already talked about getting the Madame Xanadu Vertigo series, but I may also try Shade the Changing Man, the original Neal Adams Deadman, some more of Ennis' Hellblazer (I've not read past Dangerous Habits, and maybe even Paul Dini's Zatanna.
The first 80 so issues of Hellblazer are awesome.

I'm a big Constantine fan and I've read almost the entire run. All though the comics have been good over the years nothing has really beaten the first 80 so issues by Jamie Delano 1-40, Grant Morrison 25 - 26, Neil Gaiman 27 and Garth Ennis 41- 83.

Most of which are collected.

I sensed this was coming, as Yanick Paquette seemed quite frustrated in a recent interview. He was saying that comics like Watchmen and All Star Superman had major delays at the time, but no one remembers them now that the stories are collected, and they have a single, unified art style to enjoy. And then he said that though he understands their reasons, he disagrees with DC thinking too short term when it came to sticking strictly to a monthly schedule and putting in fill-in artists for those who couldn't keep up.

Lateness has never bothered me. I'll wait to get the complete package. Comics is a collaboration and I hate it when it's interrupted with some random fill-ins. The problem is that DC is a business and needs to get its product out on time. Unless you're Grant Morrison than **** it your book is going to sell 100,000 copies anyway.

I really hope the fill in artist on Swamp Thing is going to be good. Who's going to be the artist Watchman

Victor Ibanez. Doesn't look bad but Paquette's art in the first issue was some of the best in the relaunch that I wish that things would have gone uninterrupted.

It was pretty great ;_;

Still if we're going to have a fill in artist at least we're getting a good fill in artist

yeah........the other books just aren't my cup of tea.

plus, with so many books coming out, there's no way I'd be able to afford ( or have the time ) to read them all.......lol

and, a part of me is still waiting to see if/when Raven is reintroduced and which book(s) she will be a part of.......

I'm very happy about the fill-in news. Paquette needs to shut the hell up. There's a format for people who think the way he does: It's called the graphic novel. He ought to stick to those if he can't hack a monthly schedule, or just simmer down and appreciate that DC is employing him at all with the help of a fill-in now and then.

I'm still hoping she shows up in JL Dark

me too.......

I read in that interview with the writer for Superboy ( and TT, I guess ) that they have no immediate plans for Raven in the TT book......:csad:

however, he did suggest that the Trigon story arc is still canon, so that would mean Raven still exists in the DCnU.

also, he mentioned that he wanted to "reimagine" Raven in the Red Hood and the Outlaws book ( as a villain I think? ) but that idea was shot down.

so.....hopefully that means they have plans for Raven in the future for another book.......

Too bad they wont use fill ins for Lee's slow ass. :o

Francavilla is amazing. He would have been perfect for Swamp Thing. :csad:

And he's right from an artistic sense. From a business sense, he's wrong, even in the long-term business model.

This.

Except Lee is actually staying on top of Justice League. He makes sure that he does one page a day, which will keep the book on time considering that it's less than 30 story pages. He's limiting his appearances at conventions to just about 2 a year. He's not taking up other projects. And it's been stated that with the amount of lead time Lee has had before the book was even announced, they are actually quite far along with the book, with Johns and Lee already discussing issues #12 and 13.

For the most part, Lee's career with DC has actually had him put art out on time with no delays for Batman: Hush and Superman: For Tomorrow. All this nonsense about Lee's nonsensical lateness comes from when he was on All Star Batman and Robin and WildC.A.T.S. which he tried to do at the same time, along with WildStorm editorial work, designing DC Universe Online (which took up most of Lee's time), various cover works, and multiple conventions. Lee's lateness came from the fact that he put far too much on his plate, not from being an absurdly slow artist like David Finch and Frank Quitely.

I think Paquette needs to shut up simply over the fact that DC has made it pretty clear that they are not going to tolerate lateness one bit. It's not like this came out of nowhere and was a sudden surprise. DC was very, very, VERY clear on this and obviously Paquette knew this when he signed on with Swamp Thing.

Well it was announce that he was going to do occasional fill-in issues. Probably like how Snyder's Detective run was structure with Jock doing Batman and Francavilla doing Gordon. I'm taking a shot in the dark and say that this was suppose to be a Paquette issue but couldn't get in done on time. I could be totally wrong though.

Damn it I want an Anton Arcane in hell or a Un-Men focused issues by Francavilla.

An excellent decision on DC's part.

Yep I'm glad their going to try hard to make sure books come out when they're supposed to

That would look so amazing I might cry with joy

Just a little bit :atp:

I think something else to consider regarding fill-in artists: an answer to both Paquette's frustration and the gloating in some fanboy circles about the DC relauch going off the rails. It's hardly like using fill-in artists to maintain a monthly schedule is unheard of. Look back at Alan Moore's Swamp Thing. For as long as Stephen Bissette was drawing the book, he was regularly giving over fill-in issues to the likes of Rick Veitch and John Totleben.

Frankly, Marvel's got the best approach to this: Announce two art teams upfront and have them alternate. Each team gets the time they need to do their best work and the readers don't have any surprise fill-ins thrust upon them. I mean, Random Artist #41 popping up in a solicitation when you expected Butch Guice or whoever does kind of suck (although I firmly believe it's still better than the comic getting off-schedule). But Steve Epting subbing for Butch Guice after the publisher's come right out and told people that's what would happen? Perfectly acceptable.

I'm glad that JH Williams and Amy Reeder are both doing the art for Batwoman. The arcs that Reeder does the art for will give Williams time to work on his as he does take a bit longer than some artists

And they are both great so we get good artwork whoever is doing it
