DCU Dark

Glad to hear you liked them Soze and good to see you back in this thread. It has been a while.

I'm looking forward to Demon Knights this week and finding out what'll happen next following Etrigan's betrayal of the team before the zero issue

Solicits are out today. Frankenstein Agent of S.H.A.D.E. #16 is apparently the final issue :/
Oh well, that title lasted a good six months longer than I'd anticipated and it was a fun ride.

:csad:

I'm going to miss the adventures of Frank and his monster buddies

Okay guys Im thinking of trying to get in the DCu dark line,so Im lloking for suggestions.I also want to ask if any prior knowledge is needed to pick up Swamp thing and Animal man-I have never read this 2 but i hear they are good.

If you ask me all of the Dark books are worth looking into because I pretty much buy them all :oldrazz: but truthfully it's because I like all of those characters and those books are all well written. I say follow any book where the characters really grab your attention. With Animal Man and Swamp Thing you just need to read the beginning of the current ongoings to know what's going on in the story.

Since Guillermo Del Toro is making a movie out of it how is Justice League Dark?

Very good since Jeff Lemire took over.

JLD has a pulp Supernatural Indiana Jones action-adventure direction vibe going on

Milligan's run on Justice League Dark (issues 1-8 I believe, 7 & 8 were a crossover with I, Vampire) were decent but not amazing. The first arc was good, the I, Vampire crossover not so much.

Lemire came on with issue 9 or 10 and it's been amazing ever since. I say read it from the beginning. It reads well together but expect that it just gets better as it goes.

Of the Dark comics, JLD is my favorite. I'm a pretty PG-13 type of guy so Animal Man and Swamp Thing were a little TOO dark for my tastes, but definately good. Especially Swamp Thing. Phantom Stranger's just started (issues 0 and 1) and it's decent so far.

Lemire on JL Dark has been really neat so far I'm really enjoying it :)

Looking forward to reading the annual this week

His going to be showing up in Justice League Dark every now and again

Yayzer beams

I dig Frankenstein and his wacky supernatural adventures

I haven't been able to pick up anything from October yet and it makes me quite sad. Hopefully my money situation picks up soon.

Batwoman, Demon Knights, Stormwatch and Sword of Sorcery were all really good last month when you do your comic book shopping

As were Batman, Justice League Dark, and Justice League (JL not quite as good as the previous two but possibly the best since the series began).

Not a big fan of Justice League but the new Cheetah is cool :)

The finale to Lemire's first Justice League Dark arc was pretty neat

I was a bit whelmed that the big villain was just some ex of Zatanna's jealous that Constantine was giving her some cockney lovin' though

I hope Zatanna is going to be okay and isn't being written out of the series

Lemire's said before that the cast will consistently change but that Constantine, Zatanna, and Deadman will be the constants, so I doubt she leaves.

And I was only underwhelmed with Nick Nero in that he wasn't even introduced until the 0 issue, and then showed up in the end like he had huge build up before now. Other than that, I liked it.

I really didn't like him making John Constantine into Nick Necro's apprentice.

I know the vertigo Constatine and DCU versions are different but it seems out of character for John to be a lacky or subservient.

It would of been better if John just became friends with him because he save him rather than wanting to learn from him.

I dug Blackbriar Thorn showing up in the story

That wacky wood wizard :awesome:

I have a feeling I needa get into Swamp Thing. Heard basically nothing but good things and it looks pretty f'n sweet

Swamp Thing is great Scott Snyder has done a excellent job expanding the mythos that Alan Moore created on his legendary run.

Might just have been me, but I kinda got the feeling John was using Nick, but Nick was just too driven by the books to see it.

Anyhow, I'm loving JLDark. That and Flash have been the two best DCnU books. I'm also looking forward to see how the Constantine series works out.

New issue of Demon Knights this week :)

I'mma miss Cornell on this comic book so much when he leaves it

Cornell is leaving Demon Knights!? Who's taking over?

I finally got to buy most of Octobers comics though I haven't gotten caught up on Justice League Dark yet.

So once the whole Rotworld story line was FINALLY allowed to begin in Swamp Thing and Animal Man, I'm fairly pleased with it. The choice to skip ahead a year and have them deal with the consequences is pretty interesting. I have to say though, I'm liking the Animal Man side of things a lot more than Swamp Thing.

Personally I think they've really stretched the whole "Alec/Abby 4 ever" thing a little too far. In this iteration of Swamp Thing I don't find their relationship compelling enough to rest most of Alec's motivations around it. Swamp Thing Annual #1 especially, while overall enjoyable, just seemed like too much of an attempt to further build up their lifelong connection.

On the Animal Man side of things I far more understand the motivation and importance of his rescue mission, in that the person he's trying to save isn't just his daughter but the best hope for the red. I also just love the group he's assembled around himself with Orchid, Constantine, Steel and Beast Boy.

Sidenote, the Shepard in the Red is like some weird combination of Lion King's Rafiki and the Faun from Pan's Labyrinth. He's basically my favorite side character to come out of the new 52.
