The first movie easily. The story is tighter and not too many silly jokes.

Deadpool 2 is okay but this is the first FoxVerse film since Origins that I'm not seeing in the theater twice. I just have no reason to watch it again in a cinema when I just can save that money when its out in blu ray in 3 months.

No contest. Even with the high bar the first movie set I think Deadpool 2 could have done better.

Loved both.

First is a tighter film but there are things I like in the sequel better.

It's a tie for me. Deadpool 2 perfectly compliments the first one and expands Wade's story. It's pretty much a Terminator/Terminator 2 situation for me.

The story for the 2nd film tries to do so much that it gets abit convoluted, but i do prefer the humor in the second one.

The first ones story was more simplistic and better paced, but alot of the humor felt like it was forcing the edginess abit too hard.

I think Deadpool 1 is lightyears ahead of Deadpool 2. I was really dissapointed in that sequel.

Same, theres not much between them and they both have their pluses and minuses but happily they got about things in a different way and tell two very different stories, I can see why reviews for the second were so similar to the first and theres a lot of split minds about it out there.

Great thing is we have two good Deadpool movies which 10 years ago seemed unimaginable.

I prefer the first one as the story is more streamlined. Deadpool 2 is a little muddled, but still good and quite enjoyable. It's a similar situation to GOTG. The first one had a tighter story and I prefer it overall, the second one fell a little flat while trying to expand on what people enjoyed about the first, but was still a good sequel.

I prefer the first. I'm totally up for X-Force but as a whole the first film ticks more boxes for me.

I think people are glossing over several things which make the story of Deadpool 2 so great and poignant.

I don't think that the first Deadpool had a tighter story -- it had a simpler story. What I find is amazing about the sequel is that it's not a run of the mill 'comic book story' where the hero has to stop some evil plan.

Not unlike The Dark Knight and Logan, but in a VERY different way, Deadpool 2 pushes the envelope on what a comic book movie can be. At its heart it's a story about loss, and about how it is important to help others who have lost something... even hope.

It gets spoiler-heavy now.

It's a movie in which the protagonist does all he can to prevent a kid from even becoming a villain, which actually carries a very important message about child abuse and its inherent consequences.

And they didn't even take the easy road by making the kid too likeable. He's a little *******. And what's beautiful about that is that Wade helps him regardless of that, because he (a guy who's pretty disturbed himself) sees something good in him... probably because he can relate to the kid's anger and confusion, and maybe could've needed someone to believe in him when HE was a kid.

I didn't find the story to be muddled at all, and thought that it was as tightly-paced and constructed as the original. It's just a very different kind of story. One that is more layered and complex.

I really hope that more people give the story and the weight it carries a much closer look, as it deserves to be delved into and acknowledged. People are not giving this movie enough credit. For once, we have another 'superhero movie' which ACTUALLY IS ABOUT SOMETHING, as opposed to just ticking the boxes of what every fanboy's wet dream is about.

Have to agree with this, think the sequel is not getting enough credit in some aspects. Liked it just as much a shame the first personally.

Deapdool 2 from a narrative and character stand point is definitely not as tight of a script as Deadpool 1 imo. Both are fairly simple overall when it comes down to the general plot.

With Deadpool 2 that's not really a bad thing given how many characters this film has to balance. It does it quite well and is pretty impressive. As a whole I was entertained with both equally, but the flow of the first film was stronger imo. Obviously they had far more time to get that down and Deadpool 2 is more difficult to balance.

I dunno, man. I don't think it's less tight... at all. It is as well paced as the original. It's just a very different kind of story which requiers more breathing space and a longer/closer look on the emotional cues and the character's mental state.

Huh. I'm actually quite surprised that you didn't make a 'Neither' option. But would need to revisit the second one again.

Silly jokes is why I am here. Deadpool 2 hit me on a level that hasn't been reached since Undercover Brother

Honestly, I feel that the reason the first movie is superior to the second is because of the budget. Fox kept slashing the budget of the first movie because they thought it would fail which caused the writers to focus less on the action and more on the story and characters. Ultimately, it made for a better movie. Why? Because the first movie felt so much more grounded and character-driven, the kind of tone which works best for the X-Men, who are ironically the most human characters in the Marvel Universe. The second movie seemed to focus more on the action which is most likely due to the bigger budget but also the change in directors. David Leitch is a fantastic action and visual director, but not so much at story and characters. I have had the pleasure of viewing Atomic Blonde twice and noticed that the same issues in Atomic Blonde cropped up in this film.

How is the second movie not character driven?
It actually has even more quieter character moments, and doesn't even feature a typical comic book villain. The entire showdown is character-based, and about convining an abused child not to become a murderer.

Not really a big fan of comparing sequels to there predecessors, especially with exceptionally unique movies like Deadpool. I expect Black Panther 2 is going to suffer similar scrutiny.

I will say after watching DP2 again, I felt it was a bit too cluttered. I would have taken out X-Force and just have Deadpool vs Cable. Have cable play the Winter Soldier/Terminator unstoppable killer.

Or have Deadpool form X-Force with Cable to fight the Purifiers, Black Tom and Juggernaut etc.

Deadpool worked better as an isolated film. Deadpool 2 worked as a fun action experience.

I went with Deadpool 2. Neither film had all that good of a story; what made them both so good was the character and the jokes. And I definitely laughed more in part 2.

What an asinine comment. I don't remember hating on the first movie. :whatever: I'm sorry you can't vote for neither. :(
