Anything over $50m OW and all should be happy.

I'm going with $400M WW, the R rating and DP's brand of humor poorly translating to non-English speaking countries is gonna be felt. Should easily soar past a $100M domestic though, possibly close to $200M.

The entire film industry is curious to see what it does.
Absolutely! I'm a movie fan, a Marvel fan and a Deadpool fan, but I'm also a media student. A lot of people at my Academy are quite intrigued with the movie and curious to see how far it can go .

$30 million would've been a success. The numbers we are talking about is just beyond what they expected when green lit.

The fact that people are throwing around numbers like $70-80m for the four day weekend still blows my mind. I really hope that happens though.

It's best to go with the low estimates and then be presently surprised if the BO totals surpass them. The Wolverine and Ant-Man were both bashed for coming in below tracking though the two films ended up performing well enough to warrant sequels.

It doesn't help that there are 4-day numbers being tossed around.

I think it will be the mad max fury road of this years movies. 300-400mil

Fury Road only made $153 million domestic and $376 million worldwide.

I think what will bode well for this movie was that there were people of all ages in my showing and they all enjoyed it. I took my Dad who is not into the X-Men movies and my Aunty who is, and both loved it. There were others their age in the showing also who seemed to enjoy it.

I think it will do well here in the UK as we love crude humour.

If it does indeed make 93 million over the 4 day weekend, Fox is going to give us that r rated x-force movie. Hopefully with Miller at the helm.

Hell, let them make Wolverine 3 R-rated.

Hell, let them make Wolverine 3 R-rated.

That'll never happen. Wolverine as character has way too much mass appeal with families and younger audiences for them to ever it R-rated like Deadpool and frankly, I'm totally fine with that.

Someone in the Box office forum site said this had a bigger opening day than Xmen DOFP in the UK. If true then wow. Who needs China?

There were more people in my cinema for Deadpool than there was opening day for DOFP, still that would surprise me, but its great for DP and potential for the future.

Still the UK wont bring in what China would have.

I did say in this thread I can see it being popular here, my showing was packed and everyone seemed to love it.

We Brits love crude humour as well, especially us northerners.

**** yeah! It's gonna beat AOU there? Wow :dpl:

See you soon Cable and crew. Can't wait for those domestic numbers.

Thursday update from movietickets.com:

According to MovieTickets.com, domestic box office advance ticket sales for "Deadpool" currently tops the list accounting for 66% of all tickets sold by the company in the last 24 hours. Of those tickets, over 20% are for moviegoers who are purchasing tickets to see the film on an IMAX and/or premium large format screen.

"How to be Single" is next up at 6% of all tickets sold in the last 24 hours followed by "Zoolander 2" coming in at 4%.

If this does more than The Wolverine (which it sounds like it will), I fail to see the harm. I'm not advocating go full on hard core R, but a lot of the stuff changed seemed to be minor stuff. I think it would've been better received if the full ninja scene was preserved.

I think about 400M. That's a good number for an R rated CB movie. I think it'll do especially well in US/Canada/UK.

$400 million was my guess as well but from the very early sound of things it seems like $450-500+ is coming...
