1. KINGSMEN isn't a superhero movie.

2. THE SECRET SERVICE comic was not an all ages comics. It was a "mature readers" comic aimed at older teens and adults.

...and you don't think comics like Deadpool kills The Marvel Universe and Uncanny X-Force are? The current Deadpool run has the parentel advisory as well. Heck even Cable Deadpool would be R.

Your gonna have to nitpick issues here to prove that point.

Rather you consdier Kingsman a superhero film or not is hardly the point. It's very much the same audience a film like Deadpool will attract.

Yea he has zany fourth wall breaking comedy. But the good Deadpool stories by the likes of Kelly, Simone, Waid etc there was more to character than just being a walkiing talking meme machine like he has been in recent years. Reynolds himself probably knows this. He's mentioned Joe Kelly's comics before.

joe Kelly's still the best, but Posehn/Duggan's The Good The Bad and the Ugly and Remender's Uncanny x-Force were great IMo

All props for the Deadpool rating go to the good people at Fox, who bravely decided that the fans deserved something different! THANK YOU!

It's being released in February because

I'm going to stop you right there. I'm not interested in whatever crusade you've manufactured here so you should probably find a different fishing hole cuz this one ain't biting.

You can of course feel free to continue playing the 'edgy anti-guy who argues with an entire forum' role all you like but I must request that you do not involve me in your shenanigans.

I didn't say it couldn't be done. It could be by censoring. You seem to be arguing more that this is all ages material when it's more on the adult side of things. Deadpool's origin is not really why he's popular with kids.

And you seem to be arguing that DP's dark origin is unsuitable for kids and is more suitable for older teens and adults. "Grim, gritty, and dark" story elements is not something that is (or should be) mostly for older teens and adults. Kids (and most adults) like DP because he is funny, amoral, and kicks butt, which is why I think that this movie should be rated PG-13 instead of rated R.

As for the slicing and dicing in SW, I always took it that lightsabers caurterise the wound so we see minimal blood at most. Bit different then swords, guns, knifes etc.

And yet, the first SCORPION KING movie, the INDIANA JONES movies, the James Bond movies, all of the X-MEN movies, the LOTR/HOBBIT movies, and countless other action packed PG-13 movies had swords, guns, and knives in them and still managed to get a PG-13 rating.

If Hulk vs Wolverine was a live action film it would have been R. The animators of that film and Ultimate Spider-Man have always stated that Deadpool is a very difficult character to portray on animated shows due to his violent nature.

That's because those creators are of the mindset that they have to show everything in great detail in order to portray the character accurately, which is not true.

They stretched their limit for a pg-13 in the test footage with the one F bomb. One more and it's R. The Deadpool game did fine, the rating wasn't alienating anyone. Kids play whatever they want.

But it was still PG-13, and people loved it, which was my point. As for the DP video game, do you have any sales evidence that showed the game "did fine".

As for finding the kid audience I'm pretty sure most of us grew up with Predator, Blade, Robocop, Terminator, Aliens, Starship Troopers etc. Kids will find a way to see this one way or the other. Be it their parents taking them or when it hits video.

Kids watching those movies in an after market is one thing (although I heard that parents took their kids to see the first ROBOCOP movie because it visually appealed to kids who took him to be a superhero), but it's mainly about how this movie does at the box office, not in the after market.

Agreed. This rarely happens. The majority want it and think it's the best way to go.

Very curious on how this does, hopefully could end alot of talk and debate about R rated comic films. This year has proven already there's quite a bit of money to be made.

It's not about R rated COMIC BOOK films. It's about R rated SUPERHERO films.

DP and UXF characters were NOT ORIGINALLY created for and aimed SOLELY at older teens and adults. Those characters were originally created for and aimed at all ages.

And the Kelly run was all ages and CCA approved.

God. Multi-quotes. Multi-quotes EVERYWHERE.

Also Helen Mirren as Blind Al is damn good casting. I don't know what the chances are, but that **** should happen.

No, I just thought your answer was poorly thought out. Someone disagreeing with you DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE RIGHT.

Please stop quoting/responding to me. You're going to be a Hype meme and I want no part of it.

Well, Reynolds did just work with her on Woman in Gold... one can only hope. :awesome:

"The studio is skeered" is PURE SUPPOSITION, my little friend. You have zero facts to base that claim on aside from your own hopeful opinion. There is nothing "truthful" about it except the fact that you really want it to be so.

TRANSLATION: We're done.

Think they are looking at Black actresses for Blind Al.

Yet the Kelly run still features graphic violence that you said don't need to be shown. If I remember correctly the whole rating system changed late 90s early 00's because of X-Force titles. The rating system for Marvel comics was different then. Your basing this on an old system that is now irrelevant.

The majority of Deadpool comics are aimed at older teens and adults. I know this started at least with Cable Deadpool having many issues with T+ and the other Deadpool , X-Force and mini runs having Parental Advisory. Hence why pretty much everyone wants it R. Deadpool didn't even find a big audience till the mid 00's. While your obviously allowed to disagree with the films choice, you can't just act like only the 90s comic rating matters. It doesn't. Things change with time and that's just the way it is.

Anyways, you had a bunch of replies that I disagreed with but I'm done. I don't think there's a point anymore. I hope you can enjoy the film because going from the leaked script we are lucky as **** to get something so close to the original run and in tune to the character. After 10 years of talk we are finally getting this! :dpl:

I'll probably be in the minority here, but one of my favourite CBMs in the last few years was Punisher War Zone. It was more faithful to the character than any X-Men or Spider-Man movie to date. It was unapologetic, ultra-violent action from the get-go. I loved it.

The Extra interview might just be one of the most awesome things I have seen in my life.

I love DP.

I don't think they'll go hard r or go over the top with the swearing. This is still a CBM movie after all. I think they want R so they aren't bound to the PG-13 guid-lines which let you get away with little considering the nature of this character.

If this movie doesn't flop at the box office, I'm pretty sure they'll put him in an X-Force movie, where the PG-13 audience can get some of him.
