How is it that possible when the Wolverine movie is set in the same world as all the other X-men movies?

Don't try and find logic. Fox have screwed things up and now now they're just making it up as they go along. It looks like we can expect at least one retcon per Fox Marvel movie nowadays. It all just highlights how they are sorely lacking what Marvel Studios has: Continuity.

This video explains it all...

Just like they aren't really acknowledging Origins when Deadpool gets made.
Why though? That movie ties in directly with things that happened in the first two movies. So why will they use those movies but disavow the Wolverine one?

24 FRAMES EXCLUSIVE:
A new entrant into the 'Deadpool'

The story that's unfolded around who will direct "Deadpool," the Ryan Reynolds movie based on the Marvel antihero, has been almost as colorful as anything that appeared in the comic book itself. Robert Rodriguez was going to helm it, then he wasn't, then he was, and now he's not.

But sources familiar with the project say a new name has emerged for the director's chair, and it's an unconventional one: Adam Berg, a heretofore little-known Swedish commercial and video director.

I'm still sayin'...Deadpool has to happen...I don't want my only memory of "Deadpool" on film to be "Barakapool"...

...

Of course it has to happen. Reynolds should get into Deadpool right away. That's the best character he's ever gonna play. I don't get why he would wanna play Green Lantern aka the most boring super hero ever in the first place.

^ Are you kidding me? How could you not get why would want to play Green Lantern over Deadpool even if you do hate the character?

Green Lantern is a much more guaranteed blockbuster than Deadpool and has more potential to be more popular.

^ Just to add on.
Any film based on a character that intensely popular only (I don't mean Superman/Batman... but Deadpool is mostly loved by comic lovers/fanboys, not general audiences) runs a huge risk of alienating everyone else.

There's huge risks to a Deadpool movie. The demand is so high, that quality + capturing the true essense of the movie sometimes gets overwhelmed by trying to cash in on the character's immense popularity of the time.

Even if the film's a classic Deadpool would probably only reach cult status like popularity like Ash Williams, The Dude, or The Crow.

I still don't see why he can't do both. I'd enjoy the GL movie franchise much more, if they used a different main character each movie. Maybe Reynolds could have a supporting role in the sequel.

At least it still sounds like they're moving forward. I was afraid they were just going to give up on this for awhile.

****ing stupid and ridiculous. If Reynolds does huge business in Green Lantern, you want to bring him back.

It's a pretty good guess that's someone else is going to take over for Ryan in a sequel... BUT!, that's not gonna happen until atleast a fourth film.

I pray to the flying spagetti monster that Ryan will be Deadpool.

Or they could hire a big-name actor for each different Lantern. How is it ridiculous if it's from the comics? Now if he was playing friggin' Green Arrow it would be ridiculous.

Dude c'mon. Don't be naive. Comics are not the same as movies. You should know this by now.

Yeah, I don't see them letting other GL star in the movies. Maybe get bigger roles, but star? I don't think it will happen. TheVileOne is right, Comics are not the same as movies.

But hey if they did it'd be interesting. :D

Adam Berg Attached To Deadpool

If you haven't heard the name it's that he has yet to make a feature film! Apparently the Swedish music video director is now in the running to helm Deadpool for Fox studios..

According to the LA Times' 24 Frames, the powers behind the solo Deadpool movie, as well as Ryan Reynolds(who will hopefully play The title character) are very impressed with Berg's short film Carousel as well as his other video/commercial work and he is being considered to helm the project.

If Berg is to get the gig, it seems like a big risk for Fox given that the script is so difficult to translate to screen. Going the unknown, inexperienced route is quite a gamble. Robert Rodriguez was previously attached to direct, but had to turn it down because of scheduling conflicts. All we know about the film aside from that is Ryan Reynolds will PROBABLY play the Merc With A Mouth, and that the script(providing it doesn't get butchered) is a thing of beauty.

Here is Berg's short film Carousel

Deadpool Writer Joe Kelly Puts a Contract out on Weapon XI

The Deadpool Writer dishes on what he wants to see in Fox's movie adaptation of the Merc with a Mouth and also gives us a great suggestion how Deadpool should break the 4th wall!

"I'm pretty excited about it," he told MTV News during New York Comic Con. "If Ryan Reynolds stays involved, I know he's somebody who's loved Deadpool forever and was a huge champion of the film. I think that they know what worked and didn't work in 'Wolverine,' and they want to do a Deadpool movie that the fans are going to love."

Joe Kelly is the first soul to go on record stating that he thinks "they know what worked and didn't work in 'Wolverine,' and they want to do a Deadpool movie that the fans are going to love." I hope that statement is not full of holes and rings true!

Has Joe Kelly, who also happens to be the "Ben 10" co-creator and author of "I Kill Giants" and of course one of the great
authorities on "Deadpool," since witting the opening run on the character's first solo series late in the 90's, even seen the Deadpool script?

"I have not been privy to the script, but I think it's in pretty good hands," he continued. "I want to see Deadpool be Deadpool. If they're willing to take some risks, I think it will be pretty special."

Kelly went on to elaborate on some of those "risks," echoing Reynolds' previous comments that "Deadpool" has to break down the fourth wall.

"You have to strip down that action genre and play with it the same way we did in the comics," he explained. "You need to be willing to poke fun at it, and be willing to wink and nod at the audience, and then immediately flip the switch and have Deadpool be the most kick-ass, bad-ass guy that you've ever seen on screen."

How would you have Deadpool break down the 4th wall Joe? To which he explains:

I personally would have him kill Weapon XI in the opening sequence," Joe laughed. "I think that would be something fans would enjoy and be a nod, like, hey, we're going to get it right. But that's just me!"

Bring it! That would be epic and put a band aid on the boo boo that Lauren Shuler Donner made on X-Men Origins: Wolverine that was Barakapool. Barakapool must die at the hands of Deadpool whie breaking the 4th wall. KILL HIM!

Rhett Reese Dishes on the Enjoyable Task of Developing the Deadpool Movie!

Screenwriter of the Ryan Reynolds-starrer Deadpool movie, Rhett Reese, discusses in general, the difficulty of making a live-action film for the The Merc With a Mouth. Check it Out!

Rhett Reese, whose scribe credits include Zombieland, and along with screenwriter Paul Wernick, FOX's highly-anticipated live-action Deadpool movie. Chatting recently with Io9's Meredith Woerner, Reese talks about the difficulty of making a movie for the mercenary, as well as the fun things.
"Ultimately, I think despite how fun he is in the now, we really did want to explore how he became that way and why he became that way, we definitely delve into that. He's a warped character, and that's why he's so fun to write. Various writers have tackled him and I think that particular club of people have always enjoyed being able to just go places with a character that you wouldn't be able to go with any other character. Because he's completely crazy. That's the joy of writing him. You don't have to place any limits on decorum, or what might pop into his head, what reference he might make to pop culture. He'll go anywhere and say anything and that's the joy of writing him. So we really enjoy that but we also did enjoy exploring a little bit of his origin."

"I think there's a good balance in the movie of seeing Wade Wilson pre-Deadpool and seeing his scarred face post-becoming Deadpool and having the mask on — which is how most comic fans envision Deadpool, is with the mask on." Reese went on, "We're very, very proud of the script, so I wouldn't say we hope it doesn't get rewritten too much, because there are probably ways it could be improved... but that said, we hope it doesn't get rewritten too much."
Ryan Reynolds is indubitably attached to portray Wade Wilson, while FOX is pursuing the inexperienced Swedish music video director Adam Berg, to helm the film. And if you're unaware, there are various reviews of the latest script across the web, despite the studio's absurd demand they be taken down. And to see it yourself, you're a few clicks away.
