It'd be funny if James Gunn did direct Deadpool and held a reality show a la Scream Queens* to find the next guy to play Deadpool.![]()
*Because James Gun WAS involved with Scream Queens.
I don't know, that's a good question! I don't know who would win in a fight, and that's a question I'm just not going to answer, but there was no choosing one over the other, it was just I was presented with a very special opportunity and I just jumped at it."
"I think the movie is vastly different to a lot of what's out there," says the 33-year-old. "Its kind of a space epic, a Star Wars for the DC universe, it feels that immense to me. There's also something that's classic about it, Green Lantern is a classic hero."
He also went on to add that he based his Hal Jordan on Han Solo.
"Green Lantern is this guy who can throw a punch tell a joke and kiss the girl. It's the kind of classic hero that I haven't seen in a long time and its something that I thought about when I was a kid I watched Indiana Jones and Star Wars and saw how [Harrison] Ford fulfilled that kind of role. The goal at least is to create that kind of action hero again, or at least that's Martin Campbell's agenda."
And as for his rumoured role as the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool? "Hopefully, down the road, yes!"
Hopefully?

A Canadian playing a Canadian take that jackman you tall bastard, lol.
People sort of ask this question [which one will you make?], like I have any say in the matter. They’re both movies I’m interested in, they’re both movies that are in fast-track development. But I never say I’m doing a movie until I break for lunch the first day. Because it’s such a crapshoot, this industry. Everything’s so fickle and so contingent on so many factors, aside from just an actor. And because it has an actor, and because these films have interested directors, it’s obviously likely that they’ll both get made. But I think it would be more likely that only one of them gets made with me.
And what about a sequel to Green Lantern? Reynolds laughs that one off for now, joking “Oh, yeah, we got to get that cart well in front of the horse, I guess.”

Legions of Deadpool fans are waiting anxiously for the Merc With A Mouth's spin-off movie, hoping it'll redress Wade Wilson's mistreatment in X-Men Origins: Wolverine. But Ryan Reynolds told us he'll either star in Deadpool or R.I.P.D... but not both.
We caught up with Reynolds doing some press for his new "trapped in a coffin" movie Buried, which comes out in limited release this weekend. Reynolds' IMDB page lists him as signed up for six different movies in pre-production. So we asked him about his upcoming plans, including Deadpool and the undead-cops comic book adaptation R.I.P.D. And here's what he told us:
So can you tell us when you might be filming Deadpool or R.I.P.D.?
Neither [is] next. I shoot a movie called The Change-Up next. It's kind of like an R-rated comedy, and right after that I start on a thriller called Safe House with Denzel Washington. And then, after that is where one of those two movies will hopefully fall.
But you don't know which one yet?

Because you've got other projects on the horizon, like Green Lantern 2?
Oh, yeah, we got to get that cart well in front of the horse, I guess. (Laughs)
The good news is, it actually sounds like Reynolds' next project, The Change-Up, has a fantasy/SF twist. Reynolds' slacker character swaps bodies with responsible family man Jason Bateman, so Bateman can date Olivia Wilde's character, who's a co-worker at Bateman's law firm. This film is from the writers of The Hangover and the director of Wedding Crashers, David Dobkin. I'd heard about this project, but hadn't realized it had any speculative elements.
He's dropping out of Deadpool. Just watch.
Argh, I really hope this isn't the case. If RR isn't playing Deadpool, I'm just not going to be as excited for this film.I think I posted this earlier in the thread, but just because an actor is interested in continuing the role that they've invested so much time and effort in pursuing, doesn't necessarily mean that they can/will keep that role. Thomas Jane was jerked around for several years with the Punisher sequel until he was forced to quit, thus leading to the War Zone reboot. This seems like the same kind of situation here, and considering Deadpool is supposedly being handled as a reboot from the X-Men Origins take on the character, then it'd probably be that much easier to hire a cheaper actor for the role. I hope this isn't the case, but it's looking more and more like that will be happening, which sucks for Reynolds and for the Deadpool movie.

Its not exactly a cult group.oh wow, a Fox hater! heh.
You are the guy who thinks Reynolds would drop out of Deadpool if the ball was in his court. So you don't really know anything.
Uhm, because people grow up? Also, it's not like he can't stop talking about it, he gets ASKED about it all the time. What is he supposed to do? Say that he can't talk about it.You're joking right? Why would the guy drop out of a movie that he has been pursuing for 8 years? A movie in which he collabed on the script? A movie that he literally cannot stop talking about in interviews, even Green Lantern ones? Also which is also far more lucrative?
