Deadpool & Wolverine Deadpool & Wolverine News and General Discussion Thread

This movie feels likes a release from back in the MCU's peak days. No way this isn't the highest grossing film of 2024 and will be one of the top grossing MCU films ever. Good enough for everyone involved.

Which, given how the two work together and how it was literally revealed on their show, no way it wouldn't happen.

It should outgross Dune Part II easily. :dpl:

Joker: Folie á Deux, Moana 2, Inside Out 2, Despicable Me 4 and Wicked are possible contenders.

It will do well, but it is R rated so you can't lean on children to make parents see it. People with kids may not want to bring them or have trouble finding someone to watch them for a 3hr outing(2hr 12 min plus previews and driving).

Inside Out 2 with school being out may have best shot.
Joker I am not that excited for yet.
Moana 2 has Wicked coming out the same day. I don't think Wicked looks good but it will cut in.
Despicable Me I don't get the Minion appeal but they keep making them so they must do well.

I got to watch the trailer on the big screen during my visit to see Furiosa! I cannot wait to see this film!

Funny side note, when the trailers were finished, it was Deadpool and Wolverine telling the theater to silence our phones and Wolverine was super aggressive about it and Deadpool was trying to calm him down. Just a fun experience!

It would be a good idea if they made a PG13 cut like they did for Deadpool 2, especially with this being the only MCU film this year.

And while they're at it they should finally make a PG13 cut for Deadpool 1 and stick it and Once upon a Deadpool on Disney Plus so the whippersnappers can get all caught up before DP&W comes out.

Omg. I'm super slow. I saw the second trailer weeks ago and it just hit me that there are heavy nods to Old Man Logan in this movie. Wonder now if Cassandra is supposed to loosely fill the role that Mysterio played in the comic arc (unless there's a crazy Jake Gyllenhaal cameo we don't know about lol).

Cannot wait to own one.

Will this outgross Madness of the Multiverse worldwide?
It'll only get close if reviews and audience reception are much better than MoM. To get that type of box office with an R-rating, it needs be much more than a solid movie. Multiverse and cameos by itself aren't the draw they used to be anymore. Then again, Wolverine and Deadpool are obviously big characters. For this movie to tank would require a horrible script and the first weekend will be big either way.

I somehow doubt a Shawn Levy movie will all of a sudden have glowing reviews, but I guess we'll see.
That's honestly a big part of why I'm keeping expectations low as well. Plus, the rumor that the reshoots were mostly adding more cameos. Still hoping it's great of course!

Free Guy and Adam Project both had positive reviews and were great movies, even Real Steel is positive on RT
not sure where all the hate is coming from

I enjoyed some of his films too but overall he's a very mid director and statistically, both he and the MCU lately, tend to have more misses than wins. I was replying to the argument that it needs to have fantastic reviews to get anywhere close to Multiverse of Madness numbers today, and I simply said I just don't see it, but you also never know. Where do you see the hate in that?

wasn't only referring to your comment
But idk, I disagree, I think even without a 90+ score on RT this could beat Multiverse of Madness
I know way more people who are hyped to see this versus Dr. Strange 2

There's no doubt that it's going to have a big opening and Deadpool is a character who appeals even to people who don't care about superhero films. The big question is how well it will do in repeat viewings, and this is where reviews and word of mouth come in. If it had been released at a different time I would take a billion for granted but times have changed for Hollywood and I don't see it being that big at the moment, especially with the R rating. But, again, we'll see.
