Dec 2006 Previews

I've been buying checkmate but i'm gonna drop it. I hate secret agents and crap like that so thats why i hate it. I'm sure its really good but its not my think, i like superhero books.

Why the hell did you start buying it if you hate "secret agents and crap like that"? Everything about Checkmate indicated that it would be built on that stuff.

He was too much of an upstanding guy to be accepted in the organization.
As opposed to Mr. Terrific, whom he's grooming as his replacement? Nah, I think Alan'll find some way to stay in. Rucka doesn't strike me as the kind of guy who'd put Alan in just to kick things off and then ditch him after the first arc.

Anyway, about the previews, what the **** is up with BoP? I see Oracle, Big Barda, Manhunter, and some ho who looks way too much like Babs as Batgirl for my comfort.

Even better question. How can you NOT like "secret agents and crap like that"?

i do, in movies, games, Novels. just not in comics

and corp, i bought it because i thought i would giv eit a chance. It had my 2 fav heros on it, but after seeing the first issue and how the killed ppl, i didnt really care for it, but i bought it long enough to see Michael tap that half Human booty!

I've been saying it for the longest time, but no one seems to care, Simone's gone crazy, Villans united was a fluke! :meow: :wow:

I don't mind Barda or Manhunter, but that better not be that Batgirl ho from the recent issues. I will cut a swath of bloody vengeance across at least three continents if it is.

What, you mean in the first issue? You're proud that you bought Checkmate long enough to read the first issue? Wow, bravo. That's quite the accomplishment.

and no i havent dropped it yet i have all the issues, just havent read them all yet.

i cant just drop a book, if the guy pulls it for me and its on my list and i put it back on the shelf he getts pissed at me and wont give me varients for cover price..lol

I thought taking something off your pull list was basically synonymous with dropping it.

read my first post, i didnt drop it yet

Assassin: Hello, I need to drop Checkmate off my list.
Evil comic shop guy: NO!

I can see why he would take out Alan like that. Not as a slight to the character, but rather to emphasize how much a straight arrow he can be AND still get things done while at the same time show how the world of espionage doesn't have room for those kind of people. Mr. Terrific seems to have more of a chance to be more "sneaky" than Alan while still being food. Frankly, I prefer to see Alan leave than to probably be constantly set up by his "associates" to take the fall because he's (no pun intended) the brightest character in a world of shadows.

Not every spy story has to have characters who are deeply morally ambiguous, though. Sasha and Alan's points of view basically agree, in fact, except on the acceptability of lethal force, and Mr. Terrific has the same view as Alan on that subject anyway (or he should, at least). Frankly, I was really enjoying the dynamic where Alan and Waller represent the two opposite ends of the moral spectrum, with the other major Checkmate members falling somewhere between them, and I was looking forward to more of that. It'd be a shame to see Alan go after only one arc.

I'm dissapointed with the chosen creative team for Batman Confidential. I would have like to seen Sale be the artist for both Batman Confidential and Superman Confidential.

Portacio's cover looks reasonably good. Maybe he'll keep it up for the interiors, too. I wouldn't stake anything on it, but who knows?

I'm debating another Superman title.I don't want to go overkill and get sick of Supes.I'm already reading All-Star,JLA,and Superman.

It's either going to be Confidential or AC.

Action Comics, JLA, Superman, Superman Confidential and All Star Superman are all on my pull list. I'll be dropping Superman after Pacheco leaves the title. I have AC on my pull mainly because of Johns/Donner/Kubert upcoming story.

Dude!Busiek is writing a great Superman, don't drop it while he's on it!

I cut my Superman dosage down to just AC after "Up, Up, and Away." Which was itself disappointing. AC's been all right, though.

I thought "Up, Up and Away" was a predictable story arc. I was also dissapointed with it.

Busiek has thrown alot of good stuff into the past 3 issues of Superman. They take like 10-15 minutes to read.Well worth it and the art is nothing short of great.

I dropped all star superman. i hate it more than birds of prey lol

I'm thinking of dropping All Star Superman from my pull list as well. I think the story arc is twelve issues and I'm not willing to wait and see if the book gets any better.
