Decoding THE MATRIX TRILOGY anyone? Discuss the films here.

No it isn't. He draws blatant homages to Seven Samurai as well as multiple other Kurosawa films, and before the release of the film he often used the words "Samurai" and "Fear-East Asia" to describe the "mystical, sword battling" element of the film. You can go find countless interviews PRIOR to the release of the film where he makes mention of this. Hell, Darth Vader is designed after the battle armour of a Samurai and Obi-Wan was modeled after the more traditional attire of the Samurai.
People "read into it" because it's true; it's pretty much common knowledge now.

Aye, there are one or two more lines that Lucas uses from Seven Samurai and Yojimbo in the SW movies, I can't recall what they are right now. Hiding under the floor in the Millenium Falcon's smuggling compartmenst is from Yojimbo, when he hides under the floorboards from the gangsters who have captured him.

I'll never be able to enjoy The Matrix the same again after the woeful "trilogy". I don't mind Reloaded, despite it's total lack of ending. Revolutions is god-awul though. Shame cause the original meant so much to me as a kid.

Am i the only one that wishes this had a lot more spin offs than just the Animatrix. I would love to see more of the universe of the matrix pre Neos awaking. I felt the Animatrix was such a tease of what could be done.

Also does anyone think that the beginning of the The Matrix looks like a great MIB film. Id love a MIB series done in that noir stylised style.

Cool ad - Weaving reprising the role about 10 years since the last movie was released. You know, I would like to see something else come out of this franchise. Video games are the logical move. I quite enjoyed Path of Neo, but they could do so much better.

I'd lose it in a good way of a Matrix 4 was announced. I want to see so much more of this world.

I really want a new Matrix trilogy! The matrix online game had some really interesting story lines that could be used for a film.

The Original is a classic, and is a milestone in movie making history.

Reloaded was ok, the action was awesome.

Revolutions was a letdown.

I always thought it was dumb we never saw an army of Neos vs Army of Smiths. Never made any sense to me at all. Anyways, I actually liked the sequels. They felt like totally different movies but that was because all the mysteriousness that you had before the first one came out was gone. I remember being a freshman when te first came out and being in school and everybody in school being like "Omg! What is this movie even about?!?!" Plus that noir style was gone and the whole trenchcoat combat boot look went out for the zen master whatever look. Storywise I love them though, the twist when you find out about Neo not being the first "one" and that whole scene with The Architect just blew my mind the first time in theaters.

I nearly cried when 'Keanu confirms Matrix 4' turned out to be a hoax.

The idea of Agent Smith hocking medical equipment is brilliantly subversive advertising.

Matrix 4 needs to happen. And ignore Matrix 2 and 3. So yeah, basically a new Matrix 2.

Leave it alone and commit the resources to making something new!

Sequel. Just, new actors, new characters and hell even a new version of The Matrix itself. New One, everything but just hint that it's like 2,000 years after the first

new character's? is'nt neo always meant to return when needed he is the messiah after all

10 years ago The Matrix Reloaded came out in cinemas.
May 15th 2003.
I still remember my first viewing and following the movie months and months

Good times...Good times:woot:

You know, I still like the sequels, especially the 3rd movie which I really enjoyed as we finally got to the war for Zion, plus I liked that we didnt get a cookie-cutter ending, sacrifices had to be made, lives had to be ruined, and they were, namely Neo and Trinity.

I also enjoyed the entire Matrix Trilogy and own the box set. I been saying this for years but I would LOVE, I sequel to the trilogy. I mentioned this before but the Matrix Online game from a few years ago continued the story from the movies and had some solid ideas. Maybe a new trilogy could borrow elements from that. I mean the game even had some of the filmmakers from the movies overseeing the story arcs. I remember doing one good storyline mission with a group of people where Morpheus got killed and the game story then dealt with the aftermath of his death. Man I miss that game......

Get the series done right: Matrix is perfect the way it is, but re-do Matrix 2.

The existing Matrix 2 and 3 were nothing more than a simulation within the Matrix itself, as a way of debugging the system, so they never actually happened. :woot:

I disagree I think they are decent movies, not perfect but decent enough. Lets just get a sequel to the trilogy.
