I like the sound of these characters. And while they may be distinct from the original 7, they aren't entirely unique and there are many obvious correlations between these new guys and the original Mag 7/7 Samurai, which is a good thing.

The main character/leader is a bounty hunter.....
Washington - corresponds to Chris/Kambei
There's a gambler who is very much like Doc Holliday.....Pratt - Harry Luck
There's a gunfighter who is supposed to be the best.......Hawke -Britt/Kyuzo
There's a chinese martial artist...an ex railroad worker. ....Byung-hun Lee - Bernando/Heihachi
A young caballero or mexican outlaw......Moura - Chico/Katsushiro
A grizzled mountain man with a dog.....D'Onofrio
And navajo who may not be all there ..... Chico/Kikuchiyo

Real talk though, this sounds very interesting, and similar to the Sturges version of getting good talent to fill each role. I really hope this film doesn't disappoint.

I can see Gyllenhaal as the main boss villain, and Momoa as his tanky underboss henchman. Gylly is the kind of guy who would relish stretching out his acting chops by being a villain in a western.
