Despicable Me - The Thread, The Trailer, The..Whatever

people laughed at the title of this when i went to see harry potter... but not in a good way.

but they also laughed in a good way to the beginning as well.

The voice cast is solid, but the trailer left me cold.

I thought this was going to be a "Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego?" movie at the beginning of the trailer... but I was sadly disappointed...
The concept is too similar and makes me not want to see it...

I really hope this turns out to be good...the trailer has been getting some really good reactions when I go to the theatre.

I mean yeah, the story is pretty cliche' but I don't care as long as its done well (i.e. Avatar :cwink:)

The youngest girl is gonna steal the show, lol.

i think this'll surprise us, personally, it has some great talent behind it, interesting storyline, lets hope it doesn't force the emotion down our throats like every other none pixar movie (with the exception of how to train your dragon)

lol@Those twinkie henchman

yeah those little guys are a riot. i loved when in one trailer Gru is talking and all of a sudden a rocket launches from the crowd of henchmen and he says his name and you see a scorched henchmen jab him hard in the shoulder :hehe:.

I did see this today, it was pretty funny. The bank for supervillains has a sign that says "formerly Lehman Bros." The audience cracked up at that one.

I thought it was pretty good...very funny. The minions and the girls were great.

Saw the movie yesterday - totally rocked. I think I saw one review mention something about a blend between Pixar and Looney Tunes, and that hit the nail right on the head. Very, very well-done. The minions are classic. Loved 'em. I don't think the story was quite as polished as what Pixar puts out, but that doesn't surprise me, based on what I've heard about the way Dreamworks Animation decides to make their movies. Definitely an 8/10 for me.

It was hilarious . I kept thinking of chicken nuggets whenever I'd see the little minions running around but they were funny as hell. Also great voice work , Carrel's accent cracked me up and Brand was almost unrecognizable. I also like how they handle the orphans , they weren't obnoxious or over the top in any way . ^Yeah a mix between Looney Toons and Pixar is a good way to put it.
Also good use of 3-d and the stuff during the credits was great.

fairly solid, if predictable movie. I of course loved the minions. there were a few good sight gags (lehman bros., godfather reference). I was quite entertained by Vector (had no idea that was jason seigal) I liked the designs of the ships, everything vector had looked like it was stolen from Steve Jobs secret lair.

60 million over the weekend, I don't think anyone was expecting that.

No surprise a 3d animated kids film was number 1 and made bank.

I like all the actors in this, so I see it on dvd.

It has Carrel, Segal, Hill and Brand.

All Apatow alums weird seeing how its a kids film.

Solid voice-over work all around (esp. Carell and I couldn't believe that was Brand and Andrews - even after seeing their names in the opening credits), well-told story, lots of heart, good animation and humor that wasn't reliant on pop-culture references.

Loved it. Surprisingly one of my favorite films this summer.

Yeah, Russell Brand was pretty hilarious as the old scientist...

Isso fluffeehhhhh!
