Detective Pikachu

I wonder what’s next? Musicals?

I'm working on that! Gimme some time!

You know I was talking to a friends kid about this and he said are there poke balls in this and I didn’t have an answer for him. Has anyone seen any poke balls yet?

Regarding the next film; I doubt it'll involve Ash at all. They're probably keep him for manga purposes. It's quite likely that the Red/Blue film will simply follow a character in the Kanto region doing the rounds, so it's possible we'll see Brock and Misty in their gyms, and battle them? Maybe it would serve as a prequel to the animated cartoon, before Ash's adventure?

I do wonder though how they're going to get through eight gyms, and the league all in one film? Unless they're going with 9 films (one gym and a side quest per film, then wrap it up with the league and legendary stuff at the end, in the 9th film?)

That Growlithe looks like it's up to no good...

If it were me making the Pokemon proper movie, I'd have the first movie be a sort of Karate Kid-esque movie about Red beating Blue in some tournament. Maybe have Brock and/or Misty being a Mr. Miyagi type role.

I think the next film will definitely star Ash and the gang, sorta like they're testing the waters with this movie before they give us the main course. We'll see how this one ends, though.

Hoping for Red more than Ash, but I get why.

I'm really interested in seeing how much bank this movie makes. I'm feeling confident it can crack 2 billion at the BO.

I'm excited for this movie but more excited for the potential Red/Blue Gameboy adaptation. Or if they go the route of using Ash would be great, too.

2 million is very hard to achieve.

It will definitely cross the 1.3 billion mark.

Yeah Idk about 2 million...
also I’m loving all the Pokémon we’ve seen so far (especially bulbasaur) but Pikachu still looks way to fury.

With the Asian market, I think a lot of you guys are underestimating how well this could do. If you think there's a huge fan-base in the western world, that's nothing by comparison to the Japanese

I will say 1 Billion at most. A few more movies down the line could go over that I'd say.

Like a movie starring Mewtwo or even freaking Arceus. Can anyone imagine Arceus in live action?

I wonder what the fan base is like in China? Surely it’s big everywhere but I can’t remember seeing any pikachus when I went to China

I haven't seen any yet. It would be interesting if this took place before the creation of pokeballs. And then with the creation of pokeballs, some people are for it and some prefer the old way of training.

Probably not very big, in terms of population. And this doesn't look like a movie that would sell big in China.

I don't see how a 90ish opening, with a 250ish domestic haul is foolish. Over $50 million is Japan is highly doubtful, because they already get yearly pokemon movies.

It's not going to fail. But a billion is far tougher barrier than you think.

Time shall tell.

That was awesome.

I guess Ryan is actively working with the WB marketing team because this feels like the viral promotional stuff for Deadpool. He even got his wife to feature in the video.
