Detective Pikachu

It's going to be weird to see pikachu with fur. I suppose they will want to make it realistic?

I hope not though, he's iconic the way he is.

Will other Pokemon be in this? Fran Drescher for charmander

Ken Watanabe Joins Ryan Reynolds in Pokemon Movie 'Detective Pikachu'
Ken Watanabe is joining Ryan Reynolds in Detective Pikachu, Legendary Entertainment’s live-action Pokemon movie.

Watanabe will slip into a role specifically created for the movie and in addition to Reynolds, joins Justice Smith, who will be seen in the upcoming Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, and Big Little Lies actress Kathryn Newton in the movie that is based on the gaming franchise.

Rob Letterman (Goosebumps) is directing the project, which is due to start shooting this month in London.

Well they kind of had to to be honest. No one wants a repeat of that ghost in the shell situation last year.

Watanabe is the guy you get when you want to adapt something Japanese but you don't want to get busted for white washing

Pancham looks serious. It's like he's smoking a cigarette instead of chewing on a green leaf.

These designs could look really great or terribly wrong like those "What would pokemon look like in real life" posts.

Oh no please don't make it too dark and gritty. I mean even the original game detective pikachu was a send up of the noir genre but it was still pretty light right?

Hardly doubt they're gonna make this dark.

The director of Goosebumps is behind this. We are going to be okay in that regard.

That said, an R-Rated PikaPool would've been great.

It's a bit of an unorthodox approach but Alex Hirsch is a good writer and the cast they're getting is great. Would've actually been excited about this had it not been for the director. How is this guy still working after Gulliver's Travels?

Well Goosebumps was a good movie.
