Detective Pikachu

That Snubbull just looks disgusted at everything.

basically there is a rumor that Ash is going to show up in a post credit scene

My boy Charmander! Ditto! Magikarp! They all look so good.

And so does Mewtwo but for some reason I'm only now realizing that his "ears" are actually more like fins? Or at least that's what they look like.

Justice Smith on Acting With Isabelle Huppert and Detective Pikachu

Before you did this, you shot Detective Pikachu, which is coming out in May. How much of that is CGI and green screens?

There wasn’t a lot of green screen. Our director, Rob Letterman — I’m getting better at saying last names, Rob Letterman — wanted to shoot on location as much as possible. We shot in London, and for like a week in Scotland which is like a desktop background. He had this vision to put the Pokémon up against this urban backdrop and use this gray, grainy filter. We shot on film so it gave it that natural grain.

Seems a bit odd that they didn't have any gen 3 starters there. Gen 3 starters are widely considered to be the best of the bunch and got marketed a lot compared to other starters.

Can't go throwing all the good stuff into the first film. ;)

I think that there's an entire generation of millenials who watched Gen 1 Pokemon before moving on to other shows, of which I am included. At the same time, I think the younger generation is familiar with the Gen 1 Pokemon, as well. This seems like WB's safest option for a first movie. Trying to grab as many people as possible to ensure a promising start for a franchise. I mean, we're going to be seeing Pokemon evolve in this movie too.We don't want to show too many Pokemon or introduce too many ideas in the first movie. Just enough to interest audiences so they'll come back. The sequel will hopefully dive deeper into the mythos and feature the later Gen Pokemon, intermixed with the Gen 1 Pokemon that the first movie will have already familiarized us with.

There seems to be a few other ones thrown in there, though. I'm pretty sure Ludicolo isn't Gen 1.

So are they going the anime origin for mew two where Team Rockets leader had a hand in bringing him to life? I ask cause it looks like they’re in a live action version of Giovanni’s office in the scene with the magnifying glass.

The Gen 3 starters are better than Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle? Blasphemy. :o
Yes, IN MY OPINION. Also it appears that is a popular opinion, too.
Gen 1 is great, probably my second favorite but gen 3 is just superior.
