Detective Pikachu

Someone made it sound like added reviews are scary, but it seems to be doing fine critically so far.
I wonder how will it perform in box office.

It had dropped to 68% earlier. The point was, at 30 reviews, the rating had a very good possibility of changing. There is a reason why they wait till 75 to certify movies.

For a video game film, a 70% average on Rotten Tomatoes is like the holy grail.

To be honest, I wasn't expecting an Endgame equivalent as Pokemon is normally more light with its content (bar a few episodes).

Seeing it Sunday with some pals from my city's local Nintendo group.

Scott Pilgrim may still be the best videongsme adaptation to me

That’s cute, I wish there was a Nintendo group near me. But I’m part of a local gaymers group and that’s kind of the same thing. Speaking of, I’ll be watching it with my boyfriend for his birthday :)

Apparently this leaked on Youtube. Don't think it will affect the BO that much since I imagine most families will still take their kids to the theater.

Haha, I was watching that "leak" video just thinking 'OK, when is something going to happen?".

Then that glorious thing happens! I love 80's pop.

I know, how good is 80s pop. It somehow suits Pokémon too, all neony and a bit camp

A Hollywood adaptation of a Japanese anime will always a have a hard time to break out and set the BO on fire. Detective Pikachu is already doing great as is. I actually wasn't expecting it to go to toe with A:EG on opening weekend as the cape movie did extremely well in it's debut weekend last term and it is on course to become the biggest CBM in Japan.

Also, the movie at the top opened to record breaking numbers 3 weeks ago. It had the 3rd biggest OW no. for a Japanese movie (also #3 of all time for an animated movie) and the 2nd biggest OW since previews were dismissed in Japan.

Bohemian Rhapsody was Japan’s #1 film last year. Thought that was hilarious for some reason.

Bohemian Rhapsody is #17 biggest movie of all time in Japan. It shares a record with 7 other movies (Frozen is one among 'em) to hold on to a top 10 spot in the weekend BO (19 straight weekends) and it has the highest multiplier for any movie ever in wide release in the history of Japanese BO. It's just kkkkrazzzzy :shock
