Given that most of HBO's great series have ended and their new crop mostly sucks, I think Showtime might be in a prime position to snag the top spot among the premium channels if they keep putting out great stuff like Dexter and Weeds.

Ive never seen it although it's advertised constantly on the F/X channel over here.

you gotta buy the first season on dvd then....its the most addicting show ive ever seen.

im a little confused, does FX there show 'mature' footage? ive heard more than once that showtime television in the states is close to average television in europe...

Brotherhood and californication arent toooooo bad...but Dexter and Weeds are so far above them both its kinda sad.

Weeds just ended its 3rd season with a cliffhanger, not a OMG what happens next cliffhanger, but a cliffhanger to bring fans back....

now this season of dexter is unreal, the suspense and anticipation has been non stop....I LOVED...again...LOVED....season 1...it kept me wanting more...but season 2....its driving me NUTS. i can not wait to see what happens next. the writers are unreal..the actor MCH is unreal...along with a terrific performance by the Lundy character....could very well be the best follow up season ever....

FX in the states shows more 'graphic' footage then any other station for sure. but i have doubts it shows as much as it does in EU....damnit.

God, I don't even know what shows are on HBO anymore. Showtime is where it's at for quality TV. Dexter and Weeds take the top slots for me. Californication started off on a bad foot but quickly got a lot better. The season was too short though; it definitely left me wanting for more.

yea i liked it too, but like you said it was just way too short

Didn't Weeds start out with a short first season, too? Maybe it's harder for those 30 minute "dramedies" to find a niche then it is for the standard one hour drama.

yea but weeds was really good

It wasn't my favorite show during it's first season. It got better. Now that the family acts as a cohesive unit, it's a lot more interesting.

My view may change, actually. I just started watching The Wire, and that's coming back for another season on HBO. So if it continues to be as good as the little I've seen of the first season, HBO will still have at least one quality show on their line-up in '08.

The last season of The Wire was phenomenal. It's the only great show HBO has left.

I've heard very good things about the Wire. It's on my list of shows to watch.

Season 1 of Rome was very good, but season 2 fell very short then they ended it with killing of one of the two main characters of the show, so for season 3 if im around i might watch it but I probably wont go out of my way to watch it.

If your into politics I really like realtime with Billl Mahr, other than that HBO really doesnt have any great series on at the moment.
