Not too bad a week on the wallet, even with two $4 books. Considering the last Young Avengers mini in 2008 struggled to sell around what NOVA did per average after the first two issues (which was 28k), I question the wisdom of making their 2009 mini $4 an issue. Young Avengers is a franchise that has lost a lot of critical luster the last two years and it would probably be better long term to encourage more readers are on this vs. getting more cash from less of them. But what do I know? All I know is that I may have been tempted to give, say, NEW MUTANTS #1 or WOLVERINE: WEAPON X #1 a try if they were $3 instead of $4 (especially the latter, with Jason Aaron and Ron Garney). It's not as if Marvel would go bust if a Dark Reign mini sold at under $4 an issue; Johnathon Hickman's DR: FANTASTIC FOUR mini is selling at $2.99 an issue, which I thought was a good idea considering he is going to be the next ongoing writer on the main title, and therefore the mini is like a lead-in to that. Why not do the same with YA?

Fans are waiting on baited breath to determine when CB&MI-13 is being canceled or put on hiatus. It's an excellent book, but the sales just aren't holding; they're at 18k now and likely to dip lower, which may be okay for some DC ongoings, but not for Marvel. It's been solicted to July but after that...well, MOON KNIGHT hasn't been solicted for two months now, so it's likely been axed quietly. That sort of thing still happens.

Looks like a short but solid week.

Wow, good week. Very excited about Umbrella Academy, GLC, WoK: Ascension, Wolverine, and X-Factor. Captain Britain is always a decent read so that's nice. And while Secret Warriors has been a bit slow it's still been interesting and I'm waiting for it to really take off. No real 'eh' comics this week. The only iffy one is Young Avengers. I'm a huge Young Avengers fan but I've decided no more $4 minis unless necessary to an ongoing I read. This may become an exception but we'll see. If the wallet is tight the book'll get the drop.

And I don't usually buy trades but X-Men 2099 was one of my all time favorate books so I might consider that one. However, being that it collects issues 1-9, that means it's only got 1 issue of the 5 (6 really) part Fall of the Hammer crossover. I hate trades that are incomplete storyline-wise, so that's a big hinderance for me. I'll definately give it a skim though to see how it turned out.

I sold my whole series once before along with the Fall of the Hammer tie-ins and the 6 issue X-Nation student book. I want to say it went for right about $30.

The only reason I'd consider the trade is for my binding stuff. The paper would be nicer quality and it'd make a nicer book all together, but if they don't include the Fall of the Hammer then I won't mess with it.
