Did anyone else find that Highschool was actually harder than college?

Yes. That's what happens when you can't pick your own teachers. :o:csad:

primary schol>gcses>A Levels > University Masters > Doctorate

the less varied the education, the easier i've found the work.

Let's see...

Half a dozen classes piled on top of one another daily with only an hour break in the middle

OR

Half a dozen classes alternating every other day, probably scheduled to your choosing with extensive breaks inbetween

When it comes to getting your GE done during your Freshman and/or Sophomore years, college is way easier. Whether or not it becomes more difficult after that depends on your major and how often you can tear yourself away from your social life & hobbies.

I majored in political science at a big public university. It was awesome. I did nothing for 4 years, and graduated with highest honors. Everyday consisted of sleeping till noon, eating, relaxing, maybe going to one or two classes, going to the gym, and then either relaxing till 3am or partying.

Now law school....law school blows. They take attendance hardcore and actually demand a lot of you...:(

Yep. It is great when you have more freedom and you are actually taking classes that you want to take, let alone most of those classes being classes you will actually benefit from unlike high school. Having a choice of teacher and having so much more time to yourself are pluses, too. However, on the other side of the coin, college is damn expensive like mad.

Yep. It's just you.

Yeah, I think it's just him as well. High School was easy, College is hard. Although, it could be because I work full time and go to school full time...unlike back in High School. lol.

The people are nicer in college I think because for the most part, they want to be there. In high school, folks hate it and take out their frustrations on the weakest. College folks were so much more friendly and helpful to me. :( High school was a nightmare.

If you're just a freshman in college, just wait 'til you're a sophomore. That has to be the biggest jump in education I've ever experienced.

The difficulty for either is largely in how you make of it. I'd actually have to say college is "harder" because there are repercussions for every decision that affects your grades.

I coasted through high school because I knew it really wasn't the time to get your act straight.

I meant harder academically, not necesarily socially and whatnot

i was done with college many years ago.
But freshman or Sophomore is basically the same thing, you are still taking the same classes.

My parents had me go to Catholic school so college was such a different world for me. High school was harder because I had to conform more to rules I strongly disagreed with, while college was easier in a sense because I could be who I really was whenever I wanted to be. I met a lot of different people with different perspectives and that made everything flow along real well. But the work in college was much harder than high school, so on that side of things, I can't say I agree with the thread's question. On the social side of things, I totally agree.

Then school itself isn't what's difficult. It's your life in general.

I go to an art college, so i don't think I can give a fair assessment of college's ease, but yeah mine is much easier then Highschool.

Like Manic said, 5-6 classes spread out over 1 week with lots of time in between vs. 7-8 classes each day. I think that right there explains why it feels easier, even if the work is still tough.

You're also, hopefully, doing things related to what you want to do.

Dude, what schools have you gone to? A typical high school has 6 classes per year and a typical college student takes 4 classes per semester. 5-6 and 7-8 sounds incredibly insane!

I've taken 5-6 classes each semester of college (required to get enough credits), each being 3 hours long. My first year, I had three 6-hour long classes.

And Highschool was 9 periods, one was lunch and another was sometimes a study hall. 7-8 classes.

Also I did a lot more partying in college.

Apparently in high school, you weren't fortunate enough to experience the phenomenon known as block scheduling.

:o

I went to art school, soooo....

The work wasn't hard itself, it was the man hours it took to complete the work that was tough.

In college, I had anywhere from 3-6 classes a week, each being 4-4.5 hours long, depending on what time of the year it was (summer classes where longer). We also went to school year round, with only 1 week or 2 off inbetween quarters.

dude, if your college degree is easier than highschool, you picked a pretty piss easy degree.
