The Dark Knight Did this small scene annoy anyone else?

i thought the only scene that was unnecessary was those two stupid kids pretending to shoot guns in the back of that car ... stupid utter waste of film and took away from the suspense of the sequence for me .. and also that idiot SWAT guy saying the same line twice... who was in the front with Gordon .... 'oh that's NOT good' at all ... didn't need to say it twice moron .. we got it the first time .. and a few spots where the editting was piss-poor.. otherwise.. this movie was a masterpiece

:csad: why do you have to remind me of those moments?

They could have cut...

...Anthony Michael Hall's scenes out completely and made the ferry boat speech with the joker a "video that was dropped off to the police."

...Lau being burned better so we can see him struggling more.

*I would not mind an option of an R-rated version of TDK for DVD or Blu-Ray release. Some of the deaths were cut in a way that an R was out of the question. Maybe some deleted or alternative scenes. I wonder how many times they had to do the "trick?"

I like writing myself, but I've never understood why a dark movie has to be made lighter, using this so-called 'humor'. I didn't think the panic room scene was funny and I didn't think the kids playing the shooting game was funny. It only distracted me.

'The jokes are used to let the audience breathe in the middle of all the action'.

WHY IN THE WORLD WOULD YOU WANT THAT?!

I never understood this. Why oh why? You sure don't want to audience on the edge of their seats, right?

Still, I think Nolan does it better than anybody else. I just was a little bit disappointed with the Hollywood wisecracks throughout. Especially in the beginning of the film, there were a few lighter moments that pulled me out of the movie. I got back in when the Joker appears again.

Ah, nitpicking for nitpicking's sake.

The point of adding humor to let the audience breathe is simply trying to keep them engaged in the movie without being overly dragged or bludgeoned by the darkness of a story or theme. I mean if Goodfelas or Taxi Driver or Silence of the Lambs or Apocolypse Now is allowed to have humor, I think TDK is.

Well I didnt and neither did my friends. I cant believe people thought that was cool

Well, er...you're entitled to your opinion but you should give more than "I didn't like it" to support why. I just don't see how, so maybe if you elaborate it would make the whole thing more clear.

There was a huge applause/gasp when the batpod flipped off the wall. I thought it was totally badass and completely unexpected. It just showed how adept Batman was with his equipment and he had such an intense look on his face after he did it, as if it was nothing at all.

Well I didnt and neither did my friends. I cant believe people thought that was cool

Hurm. Well, I've seen the movie 4 times so far, and everytime the Batpod scene plays out peopler are like "Whoa!" and so on and so forth. I guess you're in the minority. :o

The only scene that annoyed me(only a lil) is the "what gives you the right" scene...idk why it bothered me...murphy made up for it with "not in my diagnosis" but idk

I didn't have any problems, though the voices of the thugs from the bank roberry did bother me a little bit, but it's definitely overshadowed by the rest of the movie.:brucebat:

The ONLY thing that bothered me, was

After the B-man dropped after Rachel, what happened with all of the people at the party that got left with the Joker.

Strange. I don't really recall thinking that any scene was wasted or misplaced. It all seemed to work very well indeed.

I didn't think it was wasted or misplaced, i just want to know what happened.

Something that bothered me at the time, and the more I think about it seems strange is:

what the hell happened up at the party after Batman took a dive out the window? Joker WAS there looking for Dent. And he had a whole room of frightened audience and he's probably mad as hell Batman saved Rachel and got away, so are you telling me he simply walked quietly back into the elevator? He didn't trash the place looking for Dent, didn't look for Bruce Wayne, didn't torture that old guy. What was Alfred doing? He talks alot about evil men like he knows them from experience but I would've liked to see him shi*t his pants when faced with the Joker. This isn't just a minor plot hole. It's hanging question while you're watching the movie and it seems a wasted opportunity upon later reflection.

To help me understand this can anyone tell me what scene follows directly after Batman and Rachel land on the car? To help me remember the pacing of it.

Actually the script describes as Joker making a getaway.

Here's what the script has:

INT. TAXI -- CONTINUOUS

The DRIVER SCREAMS as Batman and Rachel hit the roof-roll down the windshield-onto the pavement. Alive.

INT. CAR -- CONTINUOUS

The Joker looks back as his car SPEEDS away. He's breathing hard, EXHILARATED. He touches the blood running down his sweaty white makeup. SMACKS the back of the driver's seat-

DRIVER
What do we do about dent?

THE JOKER
I'm a man of my word.

did anyone else notice gordans accent goiing away for a short period of time when he was talkng to dent.

I didn't have a problem with the scene with the red haired woman, Bruce just caught them having sex in his bed no less, so I thought it was funny when he left them out there. I know they cut alot of things, like does anyone remember that pic of joker from the viral marketing when he's sitting in the back of a car with a gun, what happened to that scene.

I didn't completely get that scene with the panic room line, would some care to explain it?

Also, maybe I don't remember it right, how did Rachel survive the fall? Wasn't Batman beside her and not under her so to break her fall? also I don't recall him firing the grappling gun to break her fall.

threads like this, are really just a testimony to how great this movie really was
just look how far people have to stretch to find some thing to complain about
you know, its like the only things people can possibly find to complain about are the stupidest, little, pointless things lol

I actually thought that was very nicely done.

Plus, not only was it pragmatic, but it fits with Wayne's narcissitic public image.

I loved the movie. 10/10. The Joker was incredible and the movie was a masterpiece.

But there was one small thing that kind of irritated me during one of the main scenes.

During the scene where the Joker crashes the party and Bruce sneaks off to get suited up. When Bruce reaches that one room where the man and woman are and he opens up that secret door. I didn't mind the fact that they said 'Oh great, you have a panic room.' But after Bruce enters and shuts the door, the part where the woman goes 'You've gotta be kidding me.. heh.' felt really hammed.

Completely unnecessary I thought. A simple confused expression would have sufficed. Her bad acting kind of threw me off for a second before we got back to the good stuff :/

Am I insane?

Actually I thought that was funny, they were making out in Bruce's penthouse...:hehe:

Wow...I had NO problems with the scenes you guys just mentioned...

It seems, according to you guys, that in a Batman movie there should be no room for brief spaces in the action to lend to humor in order to ease the tension in the scenes.

I actually think comic relief can be a great asset to a film. Problem with the scenes mentioned is none of them were funny. The Joker's humor was imo enough for the film. That said the SWAT officer riding with Gordon was the only time I was like wtf. If I was watching a helicopter crash right in front of me my reaction would probably be along the lines of holy ****, and I'm pretty sure they could have gotten away with that.

Either way the film was great. But some of those lines were just silly. Not like I was horrified by the dialouge throughout b/c it was mostly brilliant.

I believe her name is Jennifer Knox. Looked her up on the IMDB page, and she's just listed as Girl #1 or something like that.

Good God, I have too much time on my hands.:whatever:
thanks bro, lol

it was just to add some little humor.

Joker's pencil trick was kind of stupid.

i just didn't like the poor transition of batman saving rachel after joker crashing the party... batman should've hauled his ass back up there...

The pencil trick was NOT stupid!!

i thought the only scene that was unnecessary was those two stupid kids pretending to shoot guns in the back of that car ... stupid utter waste of film and took away from the suspense of the sequence for me ..

That was a very spiderman 3 moment.
