Die Hard 5

Actually in the third movie's defense, McClane was specifically targeted and brought into this situation by Jeremy Irons simply to be a distraction or red herring for the cops while he made off with his semi-Goldfinger styled heist. Though, Samuel L. Jackson just happens to be standing on a street corner and gets pulled into it.

But I didn't honestly care for that movie beyond Irons and only DH1 is worth repeat viewings, IMO. I think the series tried really hard to repeat DH1 with 2 and 3, which came out mediocre and decent (IMO). So, it looks like they're just not trying to recapture the first one anymore and I can live with that as the only movie that's come close is Speed. Thus, I was fine with big ol' dumb DH4, because it was still very entertaining in a summer with a number of DOA blockbusters (Transformers, Pirates 3, etc.).

So my only question about DH5 is will it be a good time at the movies? With his writer and director I am currently dubious.

Oh, yeah. That's true. But it's pretty strange this guy happens to be Gruber's brother. :funny:

I much prefer 3 to 2. 2 just feels like the first film within an airport with three villains and an uneccessary appearance by Powell. But it's still an enjoyable film.

Catching up on news, I didn't know this was in the works. I like the title.

Liam Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, James Badge Dale, and D.J. Cotrona Finalists to Play Bruce Willis’ Son in DIE HARD 5

The hunt is on for John McClane Jr. Earlier last month, we reported a shortlist of actors that were presumed to be vying for the role of Bruce Willis’s son in A Good Day to Die Hard, the fifth film in the franchise. Well today a new shortlist has popped up, and only one name on this new list was included on the old one: Breaking Bad’s Aaron Paul. Hit the jump to find out what other names are being considered for the role, and for a recap on what we know so far about A Good Day to Die Hard.

So now Deadline reports that the search for Willis’ son is down to just four actors: Paul, Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games), James Badge Dale (The Pacific), and D.J. Cotrona (G.I. Joe: Retaliation). Hemsworth has become a bit of a staple on these studio shortlists as of late, as he’s also reportedly being considered for the Arthur role in Warner Bros.’ Arthur & Lancelot, as well as one of the male leads in Andrew Niccol’s adaptation of Twilight author Stephanie Meyer’s sci-fi novel The Host. He’s currently filming The Expendables 2, after which he has a number of projects to consider (including the aforementioned possible franchise-starters, and he’s also locked into the next three Hunger Games films).

Hemsworth is actually the youngest actor on the list by a decade, as Paul is 32, Dale is 33, and Cotrona is 31. Paul’s a magnificent Emmy-winning actor, but the report cautions that his shooting schedule on the final season of Breaking Bad may conflict with the Die Hard schedule. Dale is a talented guy as well, but of the actors being considered he definitely looks the oldest. Then again, we don’t know exactly what the script calls for so he could be the perfect choice. Cotrona’s a bit of a newcomer, as he recently starred on the now-cancelled CBS series Detroit 1-8-7 and is poised to appear in the upcoming G.I. Joe sequel.

Though I’m not familiar with Cotrona’s work, among the other choices there’s really not a bad pick in the bunch. John Moore (Max Payne) is set to direct the next chapter in the Die Hard franchise, which centers on Willis traveling to Russia to save his son, “but nothing is what it seems.” Beyond that, we really don’t know much else about the story. Moore’s involvement has me incredibly indifferent, but if they nab somebody like Paul or Dale, things could get interesting. Filming begins in January. A Good Day to Die Hard opens February 14th, 2013.

Aaron Paul. Such a great actor. He should be in another type of movies, but this could be his movie to get exposed to the general audience.

If Paul does have a shot at the part I hope his commitments to Breaking Bad doesn't cause him to lose out.

It will be Paul or Hemsworth. Though I'd prefer Paul in the role.

Aaron Paul would increase my interest in the film

I'll bet they go with D.J. Cotrona just because he seems like such a "Fox" choice.

This movie will suck, so who cares? :awesome:
Cast Danny DeVito as the son, for all I care.

I remember he was in the remake of The Last House On The Left, with a similar character of Jesse from Breaking Bad.

I can just see him, "Yo! Old Man why are you being such a *****! I'm outta here." haha. Jesse Pinkman as John McClanes son.

Paul is the only choice. They shouldn't pass him up.

Also can a hypster get a title change? A Good Day to Die Hard sounds so cool.
