Dimension Remaking Short Circuit

Or just an awful movie. It's one thing to mine the 80's for movies to remake but can't they at least attempt to improve on them in some aspect? The original was good for its time but I can't see it being properly remade for an audience used to so much more advanced technology and it not coming off as incredibly cheeseball.

Well I am all for a remake. Loved the original films. And there is alot they can do with the character. I don't see much of a problem with this guy. We don't know right now what full direction this new guy will take. And just cause he done just family friendly films doesn't mean the guy can't branch out and do different styles. Though johnny five doesn't need to be that different then 80s it was still a family friendly film then.

I just think the first one was fun but silly as heck. I can't see how this will be any better.

In fact, I can see the new Johnny 5 playing Rock Band, and listening to Tone Loc on a ghetto blaster.

The second was ****ed up, i mean the part where they hit johnny with the bat and then writes on the wall "dying".

i loved the originals, but i think that article said that they decided not to use the script by the original writers..so yah, no thanks. especially with this director.

No what happened was when dimension first got the rights they asked original films writers to do a draft. They did wrote one. Then dimension decided to have another writer come in and do another draft which is when mall cop director was in talks to do script. Now we don't know if this new director will go back to that first script, the second one, or will get a totally different writer/story in general.

Personally I wish it wasn't a remake would have love to have seen a sequel. But I am not fretting to much. To we know for sure what the script is, and casting. And who knows they could easily have anyone from the two films come in as a cameo role and maybe even original johnny voice actor back. We don't know.

With remakes so popular lately, I suppose a remake for this one was only a matter of time.
