Dimension Remaking Short Circuit

Well i think he could and with other 80s films getting remakes/sequels after all these years with the right script/story i think it could do well. Personally i rather have see a sequel instead of them remaking it. But hey atless it has the writers/creators of the two films doing it. Hopefully there is more news on it soon.

Dan Milano to Write Short Circuit
Source: Variety June 4, 2009

Dimension Films has hired Dan Milano to write the script for the Short Circuit remake.

The 1986 original was about an armed robot that acquired a personality after a lightning strike, and sought the help of humans to prevent its destruction by its makers in the military.

Milano, who aside from writing and providing voices for the Adult Swim cartoon "Robot Chicken" and co-creating and playing the title character in "Greg the Bunny," figures to bring a subversive edge to the original film scripted by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock.

"We're bringing Number 5 into the 21st Century and taking advantage of the improvements in robotics that are so massive that robots are now performing heart surgeries in hospitals," producer David Foster said and added that the robot's visual look won't change.

I really liked the original, an even the sequel...

but, I don't think he would really work in a modern setting

Johnny Five was a legend. I wouldn't mind seeing him upgraded for the 21st century.

:lmao:

I'll send a mail right now to the Nostalgia Critic...
He's gonna have a field day with this one...

I was wondering when some new news on the project was going to happen. But i thought the creators/original writers were going to pen/direct it? I hope it turns out to be a decent film loved the other two.

Dear Hollywood,

Stop with the ****ing remakes!

Sincerely,
Symbiotic.

Honestly, it's getting ridiculous now. Short Circuit doesn't need it, nor do most of the movies it's happening to.

Yea i would have perferd to go with a sequel to see whats up with johnny's life now in 2000s with all the other high tech wonders their is out there now. If we can get rocky/rambo/indy/ and soon to be hopefully ghostbusters sequels why not this character. Though i will see the film if it looks good and hopefully this new writer on board keeps the character in place.

Hopefully they cast an Actual Indian actor to play the role of Ben and not Fisher Stevens in Blackface.

well who knows if the Ben character will be indian this time around.

The originals hold up enough today, there is no need to touch this unless its a 3rd film in the series. I have a feeling that my childhood is gon' get raped.

ugh...I hope they don't try to make this a big action film.

YEa i always wanted to see a sequel to the film happen. But untill the project is filming and we got set reports i dont mind a reboot as long as the characters and story are good.

i rember the first one. i saw it in walmart for 5 doallors. i might check it out. does any one rember batters not inculaded? i hadn't seen short circuit in years.

I would hope he still had that golden finish he had at the end of the second movie; which if you look back at it now, they really ****ed him up bad.

Didn't the second one have Michael McKean?

And the old guy (Oscar) who pretended to befriend Johnny Five.

Short Circuit 2 is an underated gem. FACT.

Not sure I like this remake idea. I would've rather had a third film too.

Didn't they gold plate Johnny-5's body at the end of Short Circuit 2?
