The question then becomes not, "Why?" but rather, IS there a, "why?"

People of faith believe there is. Thus, the, "why?" is a realm outside of science.

The only why is because quantum Mechanics says that only one thing can exsist if someone observes it, we exsist because the universe exsists, sorta like we are the universes way of making itself real. That is the only reason.
There is no great WHY, there is not quest that humans were ment for.

I understand that not everyone believes in God. Some people believe in evolution, blah blah blah, but how do you know for sure that it's true? How come it's alright for to say that evolution is true, but not for me to say that God created the world?

And besides, scientific theories require the ability to repeat the process. So as soon as you turn a monkey into a man, I'll believe you. Okay? And another thing I don't think you people realize is that most scientists are Christians. They don't have to think that something exploded and Poof! There's life.

You can, but you would be ignoring sound scientific fact that is proven everyday in particle accelerators like CERN and FERMI LABs Tevatron..
But what do I know, I only try to understand the world, not make up invisible men for things that aren't understood..

Evolution doesn't say that we came from monkeys, check wikipedia.
It is a little hard to replicate a planet in a lab dude. Also, if we can't prove god exists why do you belive in him?

Both are fine. We don't know for certain that it's true, but there is very strong evidence that it is true. The difference between science and religion lies in one word: faith. In essense, one realm requires faith and the other discards it in favor of systematic evidence.

...this portion of the post reveals how little you know of the process of Natural Selection and, ultimately, evolution. Given this insight, I'll let your comment slide. You'd do well to take a high-end biology course. Even if you don't believe in evolution, it would benefit you (for the sake of arguing at the very least) to learn its basic principles.

Often (actually, pretty much always) the process of evolution cannot be repeated; decent with modification is often based on chance (mutation as a means of diversity is actually the most powerful driving force of evolution) and requires near perfect conditions. Over time you may well observe a population of primates evolve into another species entirely...but you'd never live that long.

True I can't prove that he exists, but you also can't prove that he doesn't. It's called "faith".

Because I don't believe that there is some Narcisitic old bastard watching me and the entire world, telling me that if I don't do what he considers to be the right choices or admit that he is the master and greatest being that there ever is he'll punish me? God is an ass if he is the way you people say he is.. Its funny because you people say I'm the one who is evil because I don't believe in him, when your the ones who are worshiping a man who does nothing as everyday millions are killed in his name..

Yeah, I tend toward that direction, too, heh. The very nature of faith requires a person to make a leap...away from the safety net of empirical evidence and proof.

Which is totally fine to me, so long as they don't have their heads up their asses with regard to what's really going on around them (the existence of atoms, for example).

b) i never once said you were evil..nor calimed that your beliefs would make you so...
c) i dont even for the slightest second believe in santa clause or an "all-seeing" deity.. there are OTHER forms of FAITH...
d)dont get so emotional about it.... if you have FAITH in your posts... you shouldnt force people to not BELIEVE what they want either...that is contradictory to the arguments you just now conveyed

I'm not sure of the validity of the Christian scientist statement, but there truly are many scientists that try to reconcile science and faith, believing that there is truth in both.

I find this sort of middle ground appealing, myself. I firmly agree that evolution is (probably) true, yet I can't bring myself to say that there is no higher force or power in the universe.

The problem is that for most people it's one way or the other. They take their holy books so literally, or accept evidence as absolute truth. Why can't it be a little of both?

You want logic, okay a being cannot be Omnipotent and Omniscience at the sametime, yet god is somehow both.. Logicians call this a paradox, and in science when you encounter a paradox that normally means the thing you are trying to prove is wrong.


Also, the universe wasn't designed, we as humans only think it was design because we are here, it happened and we got here, there are countless other Universes that are dead countless others that are teaming with life, we are here because we are, if the earth was closer to the sun there might be a race of Fish people who think there world was designed because it seems so perfect for them, the world wasn't designed we evolved into the world.

If you don't believe "Multiverse" then I suggest you pick up a copy of Hyperspace or A Brief History of time, as we probably live in a bubble universe.

Oh, and isn't it scary to wonder "Who created god?"
