All religions try to be for everyone, but they never will be. It really does require a certain mindset to have faith. One can achieve that mindset (near-death experience, fear of the afterlife), but without it faith just isn't really possible.

It's an inherent flaw in the, "everyman," principle of religion. It's like communism actually working in the real world...it just won't happen. People are different. 'Nuff said.

Yeah, evolution and a belief in a higher power are not mutually exclusive. That's what most people just don't understand.

As much as I believe in "higher powers" I hate when people confuse that term with "God". God to me is some solipcistic personification of unexplained phenomena...and do not accurately approach the question of "higher powers" IMO. If "____" (quote unquote) exists he looks, acts and thinks nothing like man nor is he related to man anymore than anything else. In fact I'd imagine any attempt to describe "_____" would be in total vain. "____" would have to be so beyond that you could only describe "____" by what negativism, what something isn't.

This thread started with claiming whales have vestigal 'legs' when infact that is a lie. Those bones are connected to their reproductive organs, and they need it to reproduce.

That's a lie that's been disproven for years, but it's still in the text books. Infact, all the 'evidence' for evolution are lies.

I don't know what the hell vestigal means, whales do have the bone structure of hands inside of their flippers. And I know that dolphins actually do grow legs while they are in the womb, only to disappear.

All the evidence? What about common sense? Is that not real either? Natural selection is a proven process. It's impossible for it not to happen. The primordial soup is a proven process as well. It's impossible for that no to happen as well.

DNA? come on, that's the hardest evidence of all. DNA exists. It's real. So are mutations, which cause the species to change.

Religous websites do spread a lot of lies, not even counting the existence of Jesus either. I saw one with "proof" that man and dinosaur lived at the same time. They showed dinosaur footprints next to a man's footprints.

They try to say that Lucy was a hoax, and they even tried to deny the simmillairities that embryos and fetuses from all life share during their development. Try watching all of the "In the Womb" specials on the discovery channel.

Do not believe everything you hear from religous people trying to convert you. they lie all the time. In fact just the other day some guy told me I was going to hell for not believing the bible. False promises of heaven, and empty threats of hell!

I think he meant vestigial, which means "Occurring or persisting as a rudimentary or degenerate structure."

that's questionable from what I've heard. It's possible that the couple of einstein comments about God were just metaphorical. Not to mention Einstein was a genius who lived in a primitive time. it was worse than today. There was enourmous social pressure on everybody to believe in God, not to mention a famous genius who rather be admired, than called an idiot for not believing in God.

Nobody would have respected him or called him intelligent if he had said he was an atheist. He'd have been treated like Darwin and Scopes with laughter and death threats.

Most cultures (like the Romans and the Greek and early Jews) a) did not see their sacred texts and "true" in the sense that we did, they believed myths were myths; why else would intelligent men put conflicting versions of the same story in a Bible. b) were henotheists and believed that all Gods of other cultures inhabited parts of the Earth and looked over respective cultures and c) developed those Gods to explain natural phenomena they otherwise couldn't explain, provide and establish order in chaotic societies and also usually adapted these Gods off of examples of what they believed was the most fit human beings.

did you know that one of the ways to prepare them is before you kill them, you rip their arms and legs off, and then split open their stomach and stuff it, stick it in the oven while it's still alive?

And then there's the whole boil them alive bit.

I'm not against eating animals, but they should at least be executed in a humane fashion.
