I don't own any guns but if you do I don't get why registering them is an issue. It's a weapon and you have to register lesser things like vehicles.
Every gun owner should need to register their weapon. I don't see a problem with it. Doesn't take very long, not really a major issue. Background checks and waiting periods shouldn't bug anyone either. And we should also need to attend continuing comprehensive training as long as we own our weapons. Depending on their mental health issues, yes. Some people have mental health issues which are perfectly fine owning a gun. Someone who has issues with control, or suicidal or homicidal thoughts thought? Or people who have certain other anti-social issues of course they should be denied.And those background checks need to include mental health checks. We don't need people with diagnosed psychiatric problems running around with a gun.

I think the mental health angle needs to be carefully crafted into law so as not to unfairly target nondangerous diagnoses.
