Problem I have with this is no single state should be above all the others. An entire state shouldnt the capital of the entire nation. I also think it blurs the line between state government and federal government and state rights and federal rights too much.

It's really impossible to make that comparison today, though. The District of Columbia today is a far cry from what it was when first created. Today there's 3/4 of a million people living there. And "No Taxation Without Representation" is supposed to be a pretty big deal here.

That said, if D.C. becomes a state (Would it just be "Columbia", then?) it's well past time we begin the process for all our territories. Let them choose, once and for all, to become a state or to begin a path to independence. We've been betraying our primary founding principle in this way for way too long.

Yeah, it didn't go anywhere - which wasn't hard to figure out. I said at the time he should give running for Senate a chance instead.

- extended unemployment insurance
- food assistance
