An Obama speech in Arizona brings out more pro-gun protesters:

I can understand people wanting to protect their 2nd Amendment rights (I speak out as part of them), but it's not very smart of them to bring firearms to the place where a freaking U.S. president is giving a speech. Moreover, I fail to see why the more hardcore gun lovers think Obama is going to pass anti-gun laws (aside from the race issue).

I am against gun control in the sense of rounding up everyone's firearms. However, if the people bringing out their guns to this event had licenses to carry them in public, I see no problem. If one of these people took a shot at Obama then I would endorse revoking their license for the weapon, confiscating it, and disciplining them according to the slaw.

Obama and the congressmen haven't taken aggressive action against anyone, therefore they have no right to shoot at them.

Yeah, and the food court doesn't look highly upon folks who try to assassinate the president. They'll spend life behind candy bars for sure. [/bad humor]

That's perfectly fine. I think the current President's ethnicity coupled with the fact that he's a Democrat spurned a lot of conspiracy theories among conservatives. Among those, I think a lot of pro-gun supporters bought the "Obama's gonna take your guns" spiel, which isn't true.

But taking guns to a protest (even though the people have permits), is asking for trouble.

But remember... if Obama is shot at, those carrying guns will just be exercising their first amendment rights, or trying to fight Tyranny... so they shouldn't arrested...

Yeah, because he's a ******.

Was.

...right?

No, because if he didn't die and became a teenager, he would have become a driver. Mom and pops would put him on their car insurance, and their rates would go up because insurance for a teenager is higher than an adult in their 30s or 40s.

So, they saved a bunch of money on their car insurance without switching to Geico

It's because he's a liberal.

Gun people hate liberals because they think liberals hate guns.

It's quite a circle.

It seems like they're trying to intimidate, as well.

That, or perhaps it's just them being polite?

...well...that is a good thing.

We can until they start taking away our right to defend ourselves.

Just because, hypothetically, they'd take away our rights to defend ourselves...doesn't mean we won't defend ourselves.

This is getting pretty stupid, pretty fast. As soon as one of these loons discharges a gun at one of these events, this little game is going to come to a quick end for these common sense lacking mor... people. I don't think these "people" realize what they are stirring up.

I'd heard somewhere, don't remember where though, that one of the people packing heat at the town halls believed that 9/11 was a conspiracy committed by the government to lower the possibility of American citizens uprising with force.

Or something, something.

I never know if you're serious or not.

That had to be a joke. I reported him to the Secret Service anyway, but I'm pretty sure that had to be a joke.

One of them was a Waco nut, I do know that.

There is no reason to bring a gun to a protest.

Yep, Kuro. It was the same guy. The same guy believed Waco was a lie...and that 9/11 is an American conspiracy.

How the **** do you even debate a guy like that? With a mother****ing gun, to boot.

And yeah, the myth is that every liberal hates guns. Which is total ********, but whatever. There's sterotypes on both sides of the isle.

Still, why bring a gun to a Presidential event? Even if you're not planning on using it, you gotta know that you're probably wasting the Secret Service's time and energy worried about you, while there's some Waco nut on the other side of the room.

Yeah even then, like it or not this is the president and to bring a gun to the event, legally or not, makes a statement akin to burning a flag in front of a veteran. Constitutionally right but wrong in every other possible way.

Also I see a guy strapped with an automatic anywhere and I'm on my guard and ready to take that ****er out the moment he twitches incorrectly. Which in the fine state of florida is now my legal right. Immeniant threat *****es!
