he Walt Disney Company announced Disney Infinity: Marvel Super Heroes at a press event this morning in Los Angeles. This new game is due out this fall as part of Disney Infinity 2.0, which is a new disc and not an update to the original. It will feature characters from The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, and more, and it is coming to both new- and last-generation consoles. “This has forced us to think very differently about the gameplay,” Disney Interactive president Jimmy Pitaro said during the event. “We had to create new experiences that matches up with these characters and their unique qualities.”
Disney already showed off characters like Iron Man, Captain America, and The Hulk in action along with villains like Loki. Disney brought in The Avengers writer Brian Michael Bendis to write the story for the game because the developer wanted it to “feel and taste like” the comics and cinematic universe.
The new Disney Infinity is also compatible with all of the original Infinity content and characters, but Disney hasn’t specified whether any of the new content will work with 1.0. We’ve reached out to the publisher for an answer to this question.

Biggest takeaways-

Super Jump/Fight during flight
Cross Compatible
6 heroes now, 12 heroes coming.

Avengers, Spider Man, Guardians of Galaxy

So the Marvel edition is coming in Fall 2014, and since I have a PS3 I'm seriously considering getting this game. However, is there a good rule of thumb how much it will cost to not just buy the basic game but also other figurines? If it will exceed $500 then I may have to reconsider it.

My son has Disney Infinite and a slew of characters for the PS3.. I won't lie.. I'll probably get Disney Infinite Marvel for my PS4 when it hits.

Disney Infinite figures don't seem intentionally short shipped like Skylanders are.. and.. you also don't HAVE to have certain characters to play the game or parts of the game. I'm a collector at heart.. Part of me wishes Disney/Hasbro would cut a deal so Transformers could also be apart of this line.. Because lets face it, we all know Star Wars stuff will be coming in 2015.

hehe oh Bens you always lead me into such cool Segway's (you said marvel and transformers which they showed some thing cool the discovery channel daily planet) but it will have to wait til Monday.

Just depends on what exactly you buy. I would buy the game and base used on eBay, and get a good deal. Then it just matters how many additional figures you want. You can easily keep it under 100. Idk why you'd spend 500. lol

Disney Infinity Toy Box Summit to challenge creators in August

For many of us, imagined adventures with toys are short-lived and typically concluded with 20-minute, WWE-esque brawls between TMNT's Raphael, G.I. Joe and Fashion Model Barbie. The more creative types among us have a knack for crafting tales from a box of ho-hum, mismatched toys, and we imagine they're the sort of people Disney will bring to its Toy Box Summit.

Hosted by Disney Infinity developer Avalanche Software, the Toy Box Summit will run August 15-17 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and host a competition between the highest-rated content makers from Infinity's create-an-adventure Toy Box mode. The best work showcased at the Summit will be "leveraged" during the launch of Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes.

Those that aren't directly invited aren't totally shut out from the event though – Disney will also run a video contest challenging fans to showcase their favorite Disney movie through Infinity's Toy Box mode. Contest Fan Kits will be distributed to participants, and though it's unclear how entrants obtain them, they will include "approved music, graphics, and game capture tutorials." Three winners will receive an all-expenses paid trip to join the Toy Box Summit, with 10 runners up getting a consolatory Captain America figurine for Marvel Super Heroes.

Interested directors will submit videos to the Disney Infinity website, but the site's related post for the Toy Box Summit states that more will be revealed about the competition "in the coming weeks." In the meantime, it wouldn't hurt to brainstorm pitches for your envisioned hybrid of Disney characters with the WWE universe.

There are a TON of marvel characters coming out for this.

Pre-order Disney Infinity Marvel Super Heroes, get a free hero at select retailers

There are a lot of character figurines for Disney Infinity, and we imagine it will be the same story with Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes. At least Infinity fans can save some cash by picking up Marvel Super Heroes through the right store: In exchange for pre-ordering the $74.99 Starter Pack, select retailers in both the UK and the US are offering one free Super Marvel Heroes figurine to help grow hero-filled collections.

While GAME's listing states that customers can choose between Nick Fury, Hawkeye or Iron Fist as their freebie, GameStop's offer references a "14.99 value" rather than specific characters. We contacted GameStop to ask which heroes would be offered as a pre-order bonus, but that has yet to be announced. Still, if you already plan on adding Marvel to your virtual Disney sandbox, a mystery freebie probably won't hurt you. Besides, what if it's an Avenger? You're not going to be the one that splits up the Avengers, are you?

Marvel Debuts New Female Thor
Daytime talk show "The View" debuted the first glimpse of a new female Thor, which will make her comic debut this October. Host Jenny McCarthy stated that this new Thor was saved by the male incarnation we've come to know, and at some point remakes herself and takes over the role. more:>http://epn.tv/all/type-of/news/marvel-debuts-new-female-thor/source: EPN.TV

[YT]yPzI7nUWMsg[/YT]
Disney Interactive has announced a slate of additions and improvements it has in store for the playground-styled Toy Box mode in Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, noting that it will emphasize ease-of-use and creativity-driven options in the upcoming sequel.

As previously teased at E3 2014, Disney Infinity 2.0's Toy Box mode will offer options for procedurally generated content, allowing players to automatically fill out minor details in their worlds while focusing their creative efforts elsewhere. Creators can use the game's suite of Toy Box Tools to automatically populate their worlds with NPCs, structures, and entire themed arrangements at their discretion.

Disney Infinity 2.0 will also offer a collection of themed templates, letting players kickstart their sandbox worlds with pre-made racetracks and combat arenas. Other new features include customizable interior layouts, an overhauled tutorial structure, and structural mechanics for player-created minigames.

Disney Infinity 2.0 launches on September 23 for the Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PS4, and Wii U.
