Or that one Indian kid that was in Wimpy Kid and is now on that Jessie Disney sitcom.

As long as the Indian actor is not Kal Penn. I like him, but he doesn't fit.

Guys guys GUYS......... it's obviously going to be Ben Kingsley. :o

Then it turns out at the end Mowgli was just an actor hired by Shere Khan.

"He said he'd help me with my fire problem."
"He said he'd help put them out?"
"Said he'd start more!"

I always see articles mentioning the animated Jungle Book. I love that version, but I also love Sommers' live-action 1994 version as well. I wonder how this new film is going to differentiate from that one. Maybe they'll make it more faithful to Kipling's work. Either way, I'm excited. Bring on 2015, the year of Disney.

Disney won't take the risk. Which is a shame.
As someone who has indian heritage i'd love for more indian actors to be cast in high profile hollywood movies instead of just casting a white actors ( Prince of Persia).

Calling it: Benedict Cumberbatch will do mocap for Shere Khan.

I still can't believe that the guy who wrote the Chun Li movie is getting to work on this. Sure, that movie had lots of problems beyond the script, but nothing about that script inspires much confidence in me.

I bet this will be filmed in New Orleans or North Carolina for tax breaks. ;)

Will this be a serious or a childish take on the story?

So is Favreau making this before Magic Kingdom? That's no good.

I really think what killed the Magic Kingdom was Disney creating two meta movies already:

-Saving Mr. Banks, which is more of a bio-pic.

-Tommorowland, where Disney exist and plays a role in the story.

Not to say that Magic Kingdom won't be made. I just think it's on hiatus.

OMG, the very SNEAKY WARNER BROS IS DOING THEIR OWN VERSION OF THE JUNGLE BOOK!

Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu to Direct ‘Jungle Book’ Movie for Warner Bros.

Frequent “Harry Potter” screenwriter Steve Kloves will produce the adaptation of Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel

In a bizarre but potentially fascinating match between a filmmaker and material, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is in early talks to direct “The Jungle Book” for Warner Bros., an individual familiar with the project has told TheWrap.

With Rudyard Kipling’s classic novel in the public domain, it serves as the basis for two rival projects — the WB movie written by Callie Kloves and a Disney movie that Jon Favreau will direct from a script by Justin Marks.

Frequent “Harry Potter” scribe Steve Kloves is producing WB’s version.

“The Jungle Book” is a set of India-based fables, many of which feature Mowgli, a young boy raised by wolves whose friends include a bear and a panther.

Disney’s 1967 animated adaptation was the last film to be produced by Walt Disney, who died during its production.

Inarritu has been mixing it up lately, having recently wrapped the comedy “Birdman” after making his name with the intense dramas “Amores Perros,” “21 Grams” and “Babel.”
