I'm surprised Dreamworks or another computer animation studio has not gotten through to the concept of following Pixar's formula and direction at family audiences with high quality stories. The most I've seen this with is the Shrek films, but they are too comical to take serious. Come on Universal beat Disney!

Universal doesn't do animated movies. Paramount owns Dreamworks.

Toy Story 3 Preview
Story details, plus footage screens in London.
by Chris Tilly, IGN UK
UK, September 10, 2009 - A packed cinema in London's Leicester Square was the venue for a world exclusive sneak peak at Toy Story 3 this morning.

John Lasseter was on hand to provide story details and descriptions of the action in question, which included an extended clip from the movie and a brand new trailer.

The clip was a dramatic one, taking place just three days before Andy leaves home for college. While packing, he re-opens his toy box and decides to take Woody with him, placing the rest in storage.

However, Andy becomes side-tracked before he can take the toys up to the attic, and before you can say "To infinity and beyond!", his mother has taken them out with the trash

Cue a Woody rescue, although as ever, all does not go quite according to plan. He calls upon the family's loyal hound Buster, though these days he's too old and fat to help out. He then heads out of the window and down the drain-pipe, but before he can his friends out of the bag, the trash man has picked them up and driven away.

This signalled the end of the clip, although the brand new trailer that followed suggests that the film will revolve around the toy's efforts to reunite. Highlights included the gang barely making it out alive when they are thrown at the mercy of a group of pre-schoolers, and the reset button being pressed on Buzz Lightyear's back, causing him to return to life, only this time speaking in Spanish.

Lasseter also revealed that Barbie's Ken will be appearing in the film, voiced by none-other-than Michael Keaton. He then showed what looked like a DVD extra - a 1960s documentary in which a camp Ken introduces himself, shows us round his house, and becomes annoyed at the realisation that he is a girl's doll.

Another new character unvelied was a cute little hedgehog called Mr. Prickle-Pants. Lasseter explained that Prickle - who is voiced by Timothy Dalton - behaves like a posh English thespian, and has one particuarly good scene with Woody.

All-in-all it was hilarious stuff that retains the charms of the originals, and looks to be a worthy addition to the Toy Story cannon.

The audience was also treated to the first five minutes of Toy Story 2 in 3D, which looked incredibly impressive. Buzz's efforts to defeat Zurg's minions and steal his power supply really popped out of the screen, so much so that you would have thought the film had been designed in 3D rather than transferred.

We were also treated to a new teaser, in which Buzz and Woody play around with a pair of 3D glasses, before Rex arrives on the scene, trapped in his 2D body. It ended with a couple of clever sight-gags that perfectly whet the appetite for the Toy Story onslaught that is set to hit screens over the next 12 months.

God yes, this sounds amazing. And now that I've heard they're trying to break out of the daycare, I don't mind it now. It's cool to see Andy in college. He's grown up like all of us.

this movie sounds too predictable...

the toys get accidently thrown out... they are at the day care for years most likely... they finally escape, go on an adventure to find Andy, they get there, see he's all grown up....

they are about to leave, when Andy discovers them, he's excited to have foudn his long lost toys, he brings them inside, the toys discover that he has a family, and Andy gives his old Toys to his son... the movie ends with Andy holding Woody, telling his young son about the adventures they had, and now it's his turn...

tear...

Well, these Pixar stories usually find some twist to make the journey more interesting.

Michael Keaton!

I cannot wait for TS3.

oh, I'm sure the day care stuff is going to be funny... a kid sucking off one of mr potato head's eyes... slinky being stretched really far... it will be funny and cute...

I hope most though, is an adventure out of the day care facility, and them in the wild, maybe an adventure at a playground, probably more dogs attacking them.....

I honestly hope my prediction is right though on the ending... it would be fitting, touching, and realy great...

Andy, bent over, showing his 6 year old Woody, (that sounds bad), telling him about fun adventures they had... camera slowly pulls back out of the house window...... classic

I wonder what the now 18 year old Andy is going to look like. Will he be somewhat of a straight laced suburban type, or more of a scruffy emo hipster.

probably a typical straight laced kid... regular jeans, a read shirt with a number on it, regular parted hair... some timeless.... probably has a letter jacket on...

This is Pixar after all. And i doubt we'll see his face. Wait, I forgot, did we see his face in the first film? It's been so long since I've seen it.

You see him in the first and second one, but his mother only in part two.

anyone hoping that the kid from next door is back... braces kid?

I'd like to see that he grew up to be a good kid... don't go the typical route and have him be gothic or a bad-ass

Sid and his sister? I'd like to see what happened to those creepy toys...but if I remember correctly, didn't they move in Part 1? I think that means that Sid is out of the picture.

Considering how old Andy is, I am glad they decided to make this series move forward in real time, since in about 1999, Andy was about 8 or 9.

Sid maybe is in a mental instiution because of his "THE TOYS TALKED TO MEEE!" thing.

Timothy Dalton :up::up::up:

[Paul Rudd]T-Dalt![/Paul Rudd]

Sounds great, where is the leak on YouTube?

Probably will go see the 3-D double feature opening day. And I'm sure Disney will extend the two weeks after the first week.

I was kind of mad at that scene being in a kids movie. Sid probably killed himself because of that trauma.

They'll probably have him encounter the toys when they are out in the world and have a mental breakdown.

:wow::up:

Toy Story was my childhood. I hope the third brings me a sense of nostalgia. I literally cant wait.

I wonder if they'll reveal their sentience to anyone else this time, since Sid is probably the only human that knows that they're alive...so far as we know.
