Watts isn't bad, I really enjoy Homecoming but he is one of their more anonymous directors which tells me F4 is gonna be super micromanaged like their Spidey movies clearly are.

No he's not bad at all, but yeah his movies are just bleh.

I know the easy thing is to blame SONY and say they're the reason, but idk.

Prepare for a mediocre F4 movie that will still be the best F4 movie by default. :o
I was already kinda expecting Peyton Reed because he's an enormous F4 fan so this was... a mild upgrade from that expectation, maybe? Was really hoping F4 would be the Guardians/Black Panther/Taika's Thor treatment.

I said this in another thread but I bet Peyton Reed might be a bit disappointed. He's been wanting to make Fantastic Four for like a decade plus. And then Marvel double dipped with director that wasn't him?
Funny you say that. When I think of Jon Watts, Peyton Reed is the first guy to pop into my mind. Serviceable is how I'd describe them for now but I'm going to need a lot more from Watts for Spidey 3 (given all the recent news) and F4.

Warner Bros....take note of how to do a roll out and build your service.
Again I don't think that's a fair comparison at all.

Disney is just on a whole nother level than anyone else due to the position they're in. There's nothing WB, Paramount, etc. can do to compete with that

I actually like the first Ant-Man alot so I'd say he is/can be more than serviceable. And knowing how passionate he is about F4 and with the MCU machine behind him, I would've been way more excited for him over Watts

Fantastic Four doesn't mean anything to me, personally, but Marvel looking at the Spider-Man films and going, "Yes, we need more of this," doesn't inspire confidence in me for X-Men or other properties.

Of course...increase in price. Boo! They need to give me a good Disney+/Hulu No commercials bundle.

I'm so curious what Taika does with the Jason Aaron material he's drawing so heavily from. I've gotten the impression he actively dislikes the source material to some extent, so I'm curious how much of an overt parody it'll be.

Not a slam on Taika. Thor: Ragnarok is the MCU movie I've rewatched the most by faaaar. His satirizing is clearly all in good fun.

I think Sony is the reason for spoiling the movies on their trailers. Ruined Far From Home for me. Marvel Studios trailers never reveal that much.

I much prefer FFH to Homecoming but I hope he has another gear and improves from film to film.
FFH was amusing but also very annoying, it was the moment MCU Spidey - already on thin ice in this department - completely divorced himself from feeling like Peter Parker to me. If it weren't for Holland being perfectly cast and Jake being hysterically funny I might've actively disliked it.

Watts is alright, but honestly I might have actually preferred it if Peyton Reed was directing even though I wasn't the biggest fan of Ant-Man & The Wasp. I just expected Feige to go a bit more out the box for this one though and not play it so safe, but I'm curious to see what he does with SM3.

I like both the Ant Man films but many seem to like the MCU Spidey films a lot more than me (Homecoming is near the bottom of the MCU for me, despite Vulture being done so well). They both seem standard, ok, in-house picks though rather than the names that might excite people.

Good thing I took the 60 euro 12 month offer for Disney+ and that a friend offered to share it by paying half of it.
