Disney+

So, it looks like Disney+ is reviving The Quest, a show from 2004 during the reality TV/game show boom.

Now bring back The Mole...

A little change was made to Lilo & Stitch on Disney+. Original on the left, Disney+ on the right.
in-lilo-and-stitch-disney-has-an-alternative-edited-version-where-lilo-is-hiding-behind-a-pizza-box-instead-of-a-dryer-to-satisfy-safety-concerns-about-children-hiding-in-dryers.jpg

I'm curious what other alterations will pop up in the future.

I think the idea is it's a pizza box on a shelf that she gets inside and opens at 90 degree angle to cover the opening of the shelf.

It took me a moment to figure that out because it should be a dryer, not a cabinet and the pizza box door looks too contrived. That was one stupid alteration especially as I have never heard of any stories where a kid got into a dryer inspired by Lilo & Stitch.

Disney is so ****ing stupid at times.

Yep. That's what she is doing.

They just seem to be covering themselves as a precaution, which is strange since the movie is 18 years old. So many kids could have crawled into dryers since then.

The important takeaway here is that at least they didn't re-animate Lilo's sister to make her less thicc. :o

Watched "Lamp Life" last night. It was OK. Not the greatest thing ever but cute enough.

'Lizzie McGuire' Disney+ Series Seems to Be Done, and No One Is Happy
I like and agree with the bolded
“That treatment of going to Hulu” might be a comment about the recent move of a Love, Simon series from Disney+ to Hulu, after Disney believed it wasn’t family-friendly enough for their nameship series (the politics of a nice LGBTQ+ series being not “family-friendly” are worthy of a separate article on its own). And while Duff herself hasn’t officially commented on her revival series, she did screenshot an article about the Love, Simon move, circled “family-friendly,” and wrote “Sounds familiar” on her Instagram story.

Well, that makes it official.

‘Proud Family’ Revival Ordered to Series at Disney Plus

The Disney Channel animated series will return with all new episodes on the streamer, with most of the original voice cast returning. The returning cast members are: Kyla Pratt as Penny Proud, Tommy Davidson as Oscar Proud, Paula Jai Parker as Trudy Proud, Jo Marie Payton as Suga Mama, Karen Malina White as Dijonay Jones, Soleil Moon Frye as Zoey Howzer, and Alisa Reyes as LaCienega Boulevardez. Cedric the Entertainer will also return as Uncle Bobby Proud.

I wonder if Beyonce will do an update of the theme song for the Proud Family revival.

Sidebar, I watched The Hunchback of Notre Dame yesterday on the service for the first time ever, and DAMN! I slept on that movie when I was a kid. I really enjoyed it, and I can’t believe they made a dark movie with those kind of themes in 96. And it was rated G at that.

Now that is a movie I’d like to see live action.

I think if the tone of the show is similar to anything like the Freeform shows then yeah, it belongs on Hulu. Plus if the audience target are the fans of the original show then it serves them better to move it to Hulu with a more mature theme.

If they can put other PG13 content on Disney+ they can fit Lizzie McGuire or Love, Simon. It's not like these are R rated franchises and it's not like Hilary Duff is gonna be doing blow in a trap house.
It's silly.
Like High Fidelity is TV-MA so I get why they moved it to Hulu. Unless Lizzie McGuire or the Love,Simon (whatever it's called now) shows are huge departures from their source materials there's no reason to move them. Especially when they were already in production. Why wait all the way down the line?

Well I don’t get why it has to be on Disney+ especially if it has a more mature tone. From what I read, the first two episodes are more mature than what the original show was...which makes sense since Lizzie is now 30 something. Hulu would be a better platform to reach the 30 something audience (which are the same people who grew up with the original show).

I'm not saying it HAS to be on Disney+
I'm saying
I'm sure LM is not that mature. I'm sure the Love, Simon show. PG13 at best. The writers aren't dumb they aren't having Sex in the City Lizzie McGuire. Disney+ hosts plenty of mature, PG13 things so why not these? Because of possible sex? That's just silly.
It's even dumber when they wait until the series is shooting or even complete in Love, Victor's case to start clutching your pearls over the content.
It's annoying for the fans and show creators.

I’m guessing LM is probably PG-13...judging from the reaction of the first two episodes. And yes, fantasy violence (Marvel/Star Wars) is a different standard than sex...it shouldn’t be, but it is.

My niece is going to be thrilled. So that's cool

I think The Runaways is a great example of what they should do. It premiered on Hulu but aired a couple of episodes on FreeForm and was later released in its entirety on Disney+. This way, they get to keep that FreeForm/Hulu vibe with more mature themes, like LGBTQ kissing, but still have Disney+, too.

It’s coming up to the European debut of Disney + and a great time for it when so many people will have to be isolated at home.
