Disney+

The censorships hasn't bothered me much.
They aren't extreme or anything but just slight adjustments.

No big deal. The ass shots in Splash being censored isn't that noticable

It's not a big deal to most people, sure, but the thought process that goes into such decisions is troublesome. It's not necessary in 2020 for such minor things. The big takeaway is the clumsy strategy in play, which is surprising for this company. Originally it was going to be everything up to a hard PG-13, but it seems to have been pulled back. When you read that a John Ridley Tron series was scrapped and then they announce a Doogie Howser reboot is happening, it can get frustrating. They need to figure this stuff out soon, or they'll kill the momentum of these early months.

Another big deal will be the lack of original hq content.
People will be happy for another 2-3 months with the classic series movies, that are already available.
But if it comes to renew the yearly subscriptions in November, users will need reasons, why to keep it.

Right now the price isn’t bad at $7 a month but if there isn’t some new content soon, I would definitely reconsider. You can watch MCU and Star Wars only a certain amount of times before it gets boring really fast.

Season 2 of The Mandalorian and the MCU shows will keep a good number of people on board, myself included.

They should obviously protect the family brand, but they need to loosen up a bit otherwise they just don't narrow the customer base, but risk alienating a great number of people. One thing I am certain of, Rickey Strauss and Agnes Chu are out of their depths and completely inadequate. They need to be replaced just as a broad signal call for change. It's understandable to be overly cautious when you launch a service which you know a lot of families will purchase right off the hop, but now it's about growing beyond that built-in demo. Hulu will be the place for adult content, but I don't expect it to ever be the driver of all their streaming platforms like Disney + is (maybe ESPN if they put the major sports on the app), so it's important they get it right. Iger was supposed to fix the strategy before he reclaimed the CEO role, so it's anybody's guess how long a course correction may take.

If they truly want to make this service a destination, they can't be so rigid, especially when they are offering PG-13 material on here. Titanic is PG-13 and has Winslet nudity in it. Do you believe Cameron would be OK with Disney+ censoring his film on a premium subscription service?

It's simple. Put a couple extra warnings on there, offer an unedited version or the like. Or even some minor family blocks.

I'm not saying put Altered Carbon on there, but this is nonsense.

I think they should have added the entire Fox/Hulu catalogue in Disney+.

Them limiting the service to "family content" feels so limiting and would turn off potential streamers.

Disney is a coward for sitting on the Muppets...

Well they were supposed to do a new Muppets show, but it fell apart.

Honestly, I'm still sore about the ABC series. I liked it nonetheless and thought it could've used more support.

‘Star Wars’ Series From Leslye Headland in the Works at Disney Plus – Variety
A new “Star Wars” series is in the works at Disney Plus, Variety has learned from sources. The series hails from Leslye Headland, the co-creator, showrunner, and executive producer of the critically-acclaimed Netflix series “Russian Doll.”

Details of the exact plot of the series are being kept under wraps, but sources say it will be a female-centric series that takes place in a different part of the “Star Wars” timeline than other projects. Headland is said to be attached to write and serve as showrunner on the series, with the show currently staffing.

This reminds me that I was meaning to check out Russian Doll. Heard good things.

Now how hard do I need to think 'Nightsister show' until I will it into reality?

Hmm, toss Dark Disciple into the fire where it belongs, perhaps...

It really sucks, that US Disney+ gets Onwards, Starwars 9 and Frozen 2, and Europe has to wait another 3-4 months.
Also, we only have 1 season of Ducktales.
I‘m happy to catch up with CloneWars right now, but Disney really needs to get some good original content and work out their distribution issues. Prob culture and that Dog series with Bill Farmer definitely not excite me.
Otherwise I‘ll change my opinion to stay subscribed

For the record, the US doesn't have Star Wars 9 on Disney+ either.

but you‘ll get in May, don’t you?

I don't believe it has a date yet. I know there was some speculation that they might put it up on May the 4th as a "surprise," but as far as I know that was just a rumor/wishful thinking.

A family block would solve it, yeah. I’d prefer they went that route so they had more freedom to put what they want on the service.

Man that trailer made even the crap films seem watchable

I wonder if it was always in their gameplan to release The Rise of Skywalker on Disney+ on May 4th since not much time has passed since it's home video/digital release or if they moved it up due to COVID-19 like they did for Frozen II.
