Second Disney Renaissance?
Yes!

Decline of Pixar?
Are you kidding? They made one bad movie (Cars 2) and two really good movies (Brave, Monsters U) is hardly a decline. And with Inside Out their next film, I'd say they're still the most creative animation studio out there right now.

Cars 2 was bad and Brave was just "meh". Everything else they made has been solid IMO (though I still haven't seen Monsters U). Two movies aren't enough to confirm a decline, especially since they seem to have gotten back on track with Monsters U.

I'd say yes to the first, no to the second. I'm guessing Big Hero 6 will continue this good streak they've been on.

As for Pixar, while I think Cars 2 and Monsters U aren't very good, I still think Brave was decent. While the last three haven't quite been up to scratch, I have high hopes for their two in 2015, which both sound great to me.

It's definitely a Disney Renaissance, but I don't think there's a decline for Pixar. Cars 2 was bad, but Brave was solid and while I haven't seen Monsters U yet, I've heard good things about it and it made a nice BO return this year. And I think Big Hero 6 will turn out fine, even though it has undergo some director change from what I've heard.

Btw, I think there is still a fascination on shipping Hans with Anna and even Elsa even though he was revealed as the villain because he did have a very good love song with Anna, and before his revelation he had been an excellent steward for the kingdom while the sisters were away. I think there will always been some sympthy for this character, even if he deserves none.

I think when he made his intentions clear all sympathy went out the window. He was an attempted murderer the whole time.

Monsters U was one of my favorite Pixar films
Brave was quality, just not quite as good as some of the greats.
And cars 2 , even with its shortcomings, was still better than anything dreamworks has put out recently.

Was his plan always to murder Elsa? Or just to marry the princess for money and power?

well, he tried to kill Elsa during the raid by aiming the bow at her chandelier, hoping it would crash on her.

did he always plan to murder her? who knows.....

it seems he originally was going to woo Elsa, but realized no one was getting anywhere with her. then desperate, naive Anna bumped into him, literally, and he saw her as a perfect, easier target.

he did tell Anna that once he married her, he'd stage an "accident" for Elsa to get rid of her.........

and I wouldn't say Pixar is declining, but more plateauing or at least losing a bit of momentum.

if it's not careful, though, it could find itself in a decline, much like Disney did towards the tail end of the renaissance and afterwards.

Kinda off topic, but Pixar would benefit from an Incredibles 2 now more than ever.

hell yeah!!

I've been wanting a sequel to that since for the first time in forever!!

A renaissance is slightly redundant I would say this is a Revival.

Thurs estimates - $5.3m
Total estimates - $277m

this has a chance of reaching $300m by this weekend.

Isn't Finding Nemo 2 coming out soon? I think it is way to soon to say Pixar is on the downslide.

It maybe too late as audiences may suffer from superhero fatigue.

How To Train Your Dragon is better than most Pixar movies and The Croods tops Monsters U, Brave and Cars 2 so no.

I liked Brave.

not as much as Frozen or Tangled, though.

Considering the insanely high grosses of "The Avengers", "The Dark Knight Rises" and "Iron Man 3", I think it's safe to say that audiences are not superhero fatigued. Not yet, anyway.

Superhero fatigue doesn't kick in that easily. It's only been a year since The Avengers (no 2014 superhero flicks are out yet).

we'll see how Big Hero 6 performs.....

that comes out this Nov, right?
