Disney's Frozen - Part 1

The Incredibles would have came out ten years ago this year.

damn!! it sometimes still feels like yesterday.

I really feel old now............:csad:

back then, I was in my "I'm too old for animation/cartoons" phase.

I made the exception to see Incredibles in theaters only because it was about superheroes.......lol.

And after that, I didn't see any animated film in theaters until Brave in 2012.

man.....it really does feel like yesterday.

and I would have never thought, a decade later, I'd be MORE into Disney animation than I was back then.........lol.

I think the change really happened about 4 years ago.

I was just so jaded and unimpressed by most of the live action fare out there. everything's filled with violence, killing, explosion, etc. some of the stuff's so depressing. and some just plain sucked.

and maybe, as you get older, you start "yearning" for things from your childhood.

so, on a whim, I decided to go to Youtube and start watching some of the classic Disney renaissance films that I grew up on.

When I watched Beauty and the Beast, I was like.........Holy Crap!! :wow:

I LOVED it. I connected with it emotionally, and I appreciated the film way more than I ever did as a child.

From there, I started watching other films, then hunting down the DVDs. and I shed my "no animation" viewpoint.

and I'm very glad I did, that I had that "turning point." because otherwise, I would NOT have seen Tangled or Frozen. and those are 2 of my favorite films of all time!!

Kinda off topic, but I LOVED seeing The lion king and Beauty and the beast on the big screen when they released them both a while ago in 3d. There's nothin like seeing a movie in the theater.

I missed the 3d rerelease of BB in theaters. :waa:

Everything will runs it course and then cme back be it westerns or comic book movies. and look at Disney Animation. A circle..of life.

The thing is "comic book" isn't really a genre. Even the Marvel movies, which is basically one big franchise has room for both high fantasy and spy thrillers.

Looks like Frozen may win the week if it can best Paranormal Activity 4.

well, Fri it was in 2nd place to Paranormal with estimated $6.75m.

hopefully the kids will come out in force Sat and Sun!!

wow!! the regular Wiki on Elsa has a lot of good details about how her character came to be.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elsa_(Disney)

I didn't know that Idina auditioned for a leading role in Tangled!! Rapunzel?? Mother Gothel??

She didn't get the Tangled role, but someone recorded her audition and later showed that to Frozen executives, who then called her in to audition for Elsa ( who was originally going to be voiced by Megan Mullally ).

And speaking of Rapunzel, as hard as it is to believe, it seems Elsa's hair was even more complicated to animate than Rapunzel's, and required a new animation program and 400,000 CGI threads ( vs 27,000 for Rapunzel's hair )!

My guess is Idina auditioned for Mother Gothel. She doesn't strike me as a Rapunzel type.

yeah, probably.

but it worked out for the best!! she was perfect as Elsa!

Holy crap I loved this. Everything about it was great . And man shocked to hear it was really Kristen Bell singing

Well, there is precedent for Disney reusing voice actors. The same actress voiced Wendy in Peter Pan and Alice from Alice in Wonderland. So Idina could have voiced both Mother Gothel and Elsa. I really liked the actress who voiced Mother Gothel, but Idina could have done both.

that's true.

but then the voice actor often helps to dictate/define the character (just like Idina helped to define Elsa's character).

so, if Idina had voiced Gothel, there's a strong chance that her Gothel's character would have differed from the Gothel we got in Tangled.

How long until we get "Frozen: on Ice"? Because seriously, disney puts everything On Ice but this movie would actually make sense that way.

It makes too much sense to be an ice show, so I think it won't be long before Disney announces it.

I work and go to school at Saint Louis University. Our arena has a Disney on Ice show every 3 months like clockwork. I don't really see how they don't burn out the market.

Nah, they'd change it up a bit and do it as a synchronized swimming show. Frozen: In Water.

Speaking of voice actors being reused, I was amazed to find out that Alan Tudyk (Wash from 'Firefly') voiced both the Duke of Wesselton and King Candy in 'Wreck-It Ralph'.

It seems like Frozen will come in second this week behind The Marked Ones, according to estimates.

I thought the guy who voiced Mad Hatter in the animated Alice in Wonderland voiced King Candy, they sound so similar and their character designs are similar.
