Hahaha. I mean the only true flaw is the comic relief characters aren't funny in my opinion.

Goddamn, Disney is on a role. I've loved every movie of theirs since Princess and the Frog. They've been consistently hitting it out of the park. Reminds me of the Renaissance hot streak back in the late 80s/early 90s.

Frozen in particular is just all around charming. LOVED the two leads, and I really appreciated Disney turning some of their tropes on their heads. The songs, I thought, were very good, with Let it Go being the highlight.

And I even loved Olaf. Consider me shocked.

Welcome to the club!! :awesome: :highfive:

speaking of Hunchback, God Help The Oucasts and Someday are 2 of my favorite Disney songs. not just melody wise but lyric wise, too. Very beautiful and powerful messages.

But, it's weird. Someday never did appear as a song in the actual movie, did it?

With that, I'll leave you with these:

God Help The Outcasts

This is my favorite villain song of all time [YT]gqGL9B_TPTI[/YT]

I can't wait to see Frozen but I don't think I'll be able to get to the theater anytime soon.

Frollo's like Anna, lonely, desperate, and [BLACKOUT]horny[/BLACKOUT].......:o

wait what!!?? :wow:

That's the 1st time I've heard that song since I saw the movie way back when. I agree. it is a very powerful song. But I can also see how many could have considered the material too mature, dark, and serious for a movie that's supposed to be a kid's film. I know that if I were a parent and I took my young son or daughter to see that, I'm not sure how I'd feel.....

The counterpart to Hellfire, Heaven's Light, is very pretty, though......

Oh, and if you do get a chance, go see Frozen in the theaters. You won't regret it! If nothing else, Elsa's Let It Go ( and her letting her hair down ) must be experienced on the big screen!! :woot:

I can kinda see your point actually, Pocahontas feels far more mature a film compared to what came before and part of that is probably down to it being based on history. It's Disney trying to fit the fairytale format into an historical event, you're right they don't really blend all that well.

Remember the Disney American History theme park that was supposed to open in Virginia in the mid-1990s, but got nixed becauise of the public outcry against it because it was too close to the Bull Run battlefield? It's always been my belief that Pocahontas was made to couple with that and promote the park since I think it came out at about the time the park was supposed to open. But the park was never built and all that was left was the American History-themed movie.

And 'Hellfire' is one of my all time fave Disney songs ever. Hunchback has a real split personality as a movie - they weren't completely successful marrying the dark subject matter and the kiddie elements that had to be in there - but it's still one of their better efforts.

FROZEN: $66.71M Weekend (est) / $93.36M Domestic Total / 3,742 Locations / $17,828 Location Avg. #Frozen

A damn impressive start. I wonder if Disney hasn't started to build up a reputation for their new films, after quality releases like Tangled and Wreck-It Ralph.

Excellent!!

so is Frozen doing better than Tangled and Ralph in its opening weekend?

I do think they did well with The Hunchback of Notre Dame, i don't think it was too dark, but then again i was a kid when i saw it and i enjoyed some dark moments in my films like that or even in other films like the origins of the villains from Spider-Man 1 and 2 (they could sometimes be quite bizarre, and i loved them)

so with Elsa, once again, the House of El is represented in the Disney princess lineup.

We have Cinderella, Ariel, Belle, Rapunzel, and Elsa.

Jor-El must be so proud!!

as much as I'd like to see more of Anna and Elsa, I dread any sequel cuz the sequels to these Disney films generally suck. :csad:
They could always go the Disney short route like Tangled.

Hahah, didn't see that before :woot:

Disneys sequel problem was that they were always watered down from the original. I think they could do a decent sequel to Frozen if they wanted. Elsas powers had to come from somewhere.

For the three-day weekend they both made 48-49 million.

glad to see Frozen's doing better.

Exactly!

It's like they don't treat the story, characters, songs, and animation with the same care as they do with the original film. Especially if the sequel is direct to DVD and not a theatrical release.

And, the sequels seemed to be "dumbed down" for the kiddies, at least moreso than the original films.

I mean, I wouldn't mind a sequel to Frozen. Elsa needs to find love, too. :csad:

Hey!! Maybe at Anna and [BLACKOUT]Kristoff's[/BLACKOUT] wedding, Elsa meets a prince with powers of his own. They hit it off immediately, and they're both like "OMG!! Someone just like me!!" Then he proposes to her on the first night. And she accepts. And, wait....what??!!

Speaking of "wait....what??!!", how many times did Anna use that phrase in Frozen?

I can think of 3 instances off the top of my head.

Meeting Hans
Climbing down the rope to escape Marshmallow
Troll Scene

Disneys sequel problem was that they were always watered down from the original. I think they could do a decent sequel to Frozen if they wanted. Elsas powers had to come from somewhere.

The other problem with these sequels though--besides outsourcing them to the dire Disney Toons Studio--is that they're almost all fairy tales. And fairy tales tend to end "happily ever after." Following up on that almost guarantees diminishing returns. Even parodies of the type (see Shrek) do so. The only one that seemed somewhat acceptable was Aladdin, simply because Aladdin and Jasmine were both such dynamic leads that they could have adventures together after the happy sunset (or moon rise in their case).

Bu the only animated sequels that I ever thought actually did not fail to return to a story truly is Toy Story. I ust o not think a story like Frozen really needs to be revisited.

Hellfire is the greatest Disney villain song ever, period. It's actually kind of creepy when you consider that the whole song is about this old man having a raging ***** for a women half his age.
