Come Oscar night:

tumblr_mro022ShDK1sapmszo1_r1_400.gif

of course!! :o

I really hope it wins best animated film and Let It Go wins the best song award.

Wow looks like you two are the only ones raving about the awesome film that is Frozen recently. I took my stepdaughter last night and I absolutely loved the film, it was pure Disney at it's finest and probably the best Disney film I've seen since I was a kid. The songs were fantastic and it really felt like a Disney film at heart, the animation was very impressive and I loved all of the characters, especially Olaf which I thought at first I would find annoying.

awesome!! glad you loved it!! :woot:

Not counting Pixar's Brave and Incredibles, Frozen was the 1st Disney animated film I saw in the theaters since Tarzan way back in 1999.

It was certainly worth the wait!!

I was entranced from start to finish and loved every minute of it!

I told you. :word:

I enjoyed it. I didn't think the songs touched any of Howard Ashman's work in terms of memorability, but they were agreeable enough. Everything else was very good, down to the voice work, story and stunning animation.

I'm curious why Kristen Bell hasn't voiced a Disney princess until now, but she was great. She's certainly up there with Jodi Benson, Paige O'Hara, Linda Larkin, and Aniki Noni Rose now.

I actually found all the songs memorable and catchy. I definitely have them stuck in my head right now. I like broadway musicals so they were right up my alley.

And yes, Kristen Bell was adorable and endearing as Anna. The character was such a joy to watch and played well off of Elsa's more somber/serious/scared mood.

And I'm really glad Elsa was in no way portrayed as evil or vengeful or anything. It's refreshing they didn't go that route. In fact, her motives were based largely around her desire to protect others from herself.

also, just realized this.....

when Elsa joins the princess lineup, she'll be the 1st princess who doesn't have her own love interest, won't she?? :(

This reminds me, when I first started getting my dad into Veronica Mars several years ago, he made some off-handed "LOL, she sounds like a real-life Disney character" comment. I need to tell him how right he was.

But yeah, I agree, she was perfect. Really wonderful voice-acting there.

Also she joined the princess lineup about a month ago. We've already bought 2 Elsa dolls for girls birthdays lol

hey, did anyone else tear up during [BLACKOUT]Do You Want To Build a Snowman? After the king and queen die, and older Anna knocks on Elsa's door and starts singing "Please I know you're in there......" That part really got to me. :csad:[/BLACKOUT]

Just got back from seeing this.

Wow! Just.......Wow!! This film was PERFECT!! I loved every minute of it. I loved all of the songs. The story was excellent and the characters were relatable and outstanding!

Let It Go was the highlight sequence for me. And that moment when Elsa lets down her hair.........:wow: :hrt::hrt::hrt:

Overall, I give it a 10/10.

I know how much you were looking forward to it so I'm glad to see you really enjoyed it.

excellent!!

no Anna dolls, though?? :o

it will be interesting to see which princess is more popular in merch.

Frozen 2: Elsa's Suitors

actually, I read online that one of the early story ideas was to have the snow queen as the main character. and she had a cold, icy heart until it was melted by a suitor.

aside from Man Of Steel, Frozen was the best movie I've seen all year, and the best movie I've seen in a long while.

We bought two of those as well :wow:. Tried to convince my son to play with the Olaf, but he is not really a stuffed animal/doll kid :D

Princess line is their biggest money maker. They will never shut it down.
I don't mind a new princess movie every couple of years.

I know!!

that's why I was shocked when I heard that one Disney exec say they're moving away from princess/fairy tale movies because the girls these days just aren't into that stuff anymore. :wow:

Maybe I misread it, but I was like........

There were plenty of little girls going to see Frozen with their parents yesterday.

Sadly, I didn't see any other 30 year old guy there..........but I didn't really care. :o :oldrazz:

The whole sequence got to me. My brother is the closest person I am to in the world.

She is beyond fantastic.

Online Black Friday is hilarious in this regard. Anything Disney, Barbie or Lego is gone in seconds.

Frozen was profitable the moment they announced it.

oh, and another thing I'm thankful for is that Elsa's hair color stayed blonde throughout. no hair color changing shenanigans for her..........

some of the earlier marketing had her with silver/white hair, while others had her with blonde hair. so I was becoming confused and distraught.

but....FINALLY.......I got my wish!! a true blonde, blue eyed princess!!

What about Aurora and Cinderella?

What about Aurora and Cinderella?

according to the Disney Wiki, Aurora has violet eyes. And Cinderella started out more as an orange-blonde before being retconned to a lighter blonde.

which, ironically, is the opposite of Anna. the early image released of her had her with lighter blonde hair......but then she got retconned to a red head.

but then the Disney wiki lists Anna with strawberry-blonde hair.

what do you guys think??

do you think Anna should be classified as a red head or as a blonde?

Thinking about the film some more, I am having a hard time not placing it right alongside Beauty and the Beast and the best of Pixar in terms of American animated films. There really isn't a bad Disney/Pixar film imo. They are all good.

But Frozen has those little things that elevate these films. The smart writing, that plays with the formula while embracing it. Standard, almost stock characters, who are brought to life through the dialogue, voice acting and animation. Just look at Olaf.

Anna is something else. Little moments like "I was born ready", her chocolate eating during the song, "its not nice to throw people". It isn't complicated to create an attractive looking woman on the surface level in animated terms. But Anna's general movement and expressions blend so well with Bell's voice perfect. She is about as "real" as a Disney character gets .The same can be said about Elsa. The transformation is pretty stunning.
