Maybe a potential sequel could center around Elsa having to use her powers to solve some great problem/deal with some great threat, rather than unintentionally causing one.

I can see the sequel revolving around Elsa trying to figure out where her powers come from, and then Anna getting her own powers, probably heat-related.

May as well stick the Marvel Studios logo in front of it then.

"You think you're the only magical girl out there?"

"Who the hell are you?"

"Mother Goose. Director of F.A.B.L.E. I'm here to talk to you about the Princesses Initiative."

heh.

so did it seem like Elsa's ice changed colors based on her mood?

State business. Why does that need more explanation?
As to the latter, magic. As to the former, reasonable people can disagree on that one, but I don't think the story needed any explanation there; she just has them. I've read a lot of magical realist fiction, so perhaps that's why.
Don't agree there. It's a pretty well-executed twist, and in retrospect makes his calculatedly bland persona and the fact that he agrees with everything Anna says look more obvious.
I was confused by that, but evidently he was just tagging along with them. I don't really see how that's "lazy". Orphans and street kids weren't terribly unusual in that period.

I just dont think were gonna find ground on most of the stuff (especially the evil prince aspect)...i realize i'm in the minority of people disliking this film, even though both my daughter and i were excited for it, and we love almost everything disney.

I was just disppointed by it..it could have been so much more.

As for the "magic" answer...well so it would seem, but it just wasnt truly explained..it was never gone into how she could even give life to the objects. It goes to my "it could have been so much better" if all these things tied together in a more woven plot (parents, powers, maybe even the trolls and Ice guys)...and yes you are certainy ok with your orphan explanation..it just seems like a failed opportunity for things to tie up better.

I felt they explained what they needed and left out more detailed explanations if it really didn't contribute to the story.

And I was fine with that.

Since when has Disney EVER really explained the magic in their movies, it's always left vague. Why would this movie be any different?

If only they had played Let It Go audio during it.

Tangled explained it well. If it was like Frozen, we wouldn't have known where Rapunzel's glowing hair came from.

I think they needed to explain that in Tangled because of the Healing Song and how it activates the healing magic.

The Healing Song is important to the plot.

Plus, the origin of the villain is tied to the magic flower.

I mean.....I wouldn't mind if they had expanded on the origin of Elsa's powers.

But I didn't feel like I was missing anything by what they showed.

I agree, but I was just saying the magic was thoroughly explained in Tangled. Of course, for good reason. Loki was asking when Disney has ever explained the magic and I think that answer sufficed. :yay:

Yeah, I didn't have a problem with the way it was explained in Frozen. Keeps some mystery.

just imagine......if they actually did explain every little thing, there would be people out there complaining about that.

heck, some critics already think the plot's too "tangled" or convoluted. :whatever:

hey......if you found the plot of this film too confusing...........well.........

The hell? The plot is straightforward with layered characters. Some of these people shouldn't be reviewing movies.

tell me about it.

and sometimes you can tell from the tone of their reviews that they already have a bias towards these type of films.

I agree, but i kinda wanted more complicated and more layered of a plot as well.

Its not that I "need" explanations for the magic for its own sake, i just think they could have come up with something that would have layered the plot more and made the story more interesting.
