Django Unchained

I think because people expect Will Smith to be the safe black actor. He can't come off too threatening in his movies.

"We're gonna have to take the boy."

This time he will be shot for saying that.

Will Smith has no cajones.

DiCaprio did Shutter Island, Inception, Revolutionary Road, Body of Lies, and J. Edgar all within 3 years. That's crazy range.

Range perhaps, but pretty much none of these were risky at all.

I would say Inception was somewhat risky, but yeah none of those other once are too risky. Django is definitely something totally different for him though.

They're not exactly risky roles (The Aviator excluded. You've gotta have balls to play such a weirdo with that much commitment and disregard for your own image), but they certainly are meaty roles that require some real chops, and, they're about a million miles removed from safe BS like Hancock. Smith is a legitimately good actor too. It's disheartening to see him play it all so safe.

The role DiCaprio's taking in Django is 100% risky though. Not just a villain, but an out and out racist *****ebag? DiCaprio is smart enough to see that despite how ugly it is, it's a juicy role.

He is afterall, the Fresh Prince of Bel Air:

Hancock and Bad Boys 2 are about as hardcore as he's ever gotten but even then.

I never even finished the first Bad Boys. I tried to watch it when I was like 16 and I turned it off just as the 3rd act was starting. It bored me to death. I will NEVER watch the sequel.

You should, it's awesome.

Eh, not gonna happen. I know it's not for me, and post Transformers, I'm flat out done with anything that has Michael Bay's name on it. He's the anti-christ.

Hated the first Bad Boys and could never sit through the entire movie, but Bad Boys 2 is a lot better imo.

Who really dropped out for jamie foxx to take over the lead role? I have a hard time believing Tarantino wrote the script with him in mind.

He doesn't fit the tarantino mold of washed up actor brought back nor is he in a particular career high either. He's in a weird middle ground.

Will Smith and Idris Elba both passed.

Don Johnson was in that piece of excrement known as Bucky Larson. But a good choice to say the least.

As for Broomhilda, I think that they will make an announcement in the next two weeks, either this week or next week. The fact that she has not been cast yet makes me think it won't be Kerry Washington, which is a shame because I think she's a good actress. Naomie Harris was my second choice, but she's going to be in the next James Bond movie. They will probably go with an unknown actress.

Like 95% of the actors Tarantino chose.

I thought the only reason QT didn't use Idris is because he wanted an American in the role.

Some of you guys act like Jamie Foxx fell off the map . He's been getting considerably good roles.

I remember when Inglorious Bastards was rumored to have all these big name actors in it and then they turned out to be "smaller" stars. Now with Django there were hardly any rumors beforehand and then bam, big stars left and right. Crazy.
