I didn't hate on any of the cast of this film. I don't think I dislike one cast memember as a matter of fact. I'm mostly not excited for this film because I didn't like Basterds and I'm growing tired of QT's films sameness. There are tons of actors that I like. I'm not going to write down all of their names right now but my posts about them are out there.

I can see a little where you are coming from, however I liked Basterds.

Tarantino is one of my fac casting directors in the world. He gets the perfect people to play his characters, and his choices are often very unpredictable. The casting of Django though feels very uninspired and predictable. That doesnt mean I dont like the actors.

Eh, you say uninspired and predictable like that's a bad thing. It doesn't matter how predictable they are, as long as they fit the role Taranitno sees fit, then it doesn't matter much.

I love the idea of Levitt and the dude from Without a Trace as Australian slave traders. So Tarantino but pretty unpredictable.

I can understand not liking Inglourious Basterds but I wouldn't say its the same as Kill Bill or really even that similar to most of his movies. There's definitely some stylistic things that stay the same but at the same time they don't. Basterds had some great tense scenes that pulled the tension and then finally let everything snap in an extraordinary fashion. I don't feel that is present in his other films at all.

How are Basterds and Kill Bill similar? They may have some of the same themes, but they have completely different voices and tones. He also is able to twist those similarities and influences around into a different flavor where it feels completely new. Shoshanna and The Bride have similar objectives, and hell, even resemble eachother, but they feel so different.

Quentin Tarantino is reaching out to a familiar face for a part in DJANGO UNCHAINED, tapping his KILL BILL composer RZA for a supporting role in the spaghetti Western, Variety's Jeff Sneider reports. RZA will play Thaddeus, a violent slave working on a Mississippi plantation. Additionally, FROZEN RIVER star Misty Upham has been cast as a trading post/bar owner named Minnie.

I wonder how violent the climax of the film will be, and will it be allowed to be rated R, or will the MPAA give it NC-17 because of the content..

I just wanted to stop by this thread and say something I have kept bottled up inside for too long....

I know I am going to take a lot of heat for this but... Tarantino is overrated. He's done some good stuff and has a solid grasp of action and peppy dialog but his characters are throw away, derivative crap. I want to like his stuff but rarely connect with his characters.

Whew! Glad I got that off my chest... let the flaming begin!

I love Tarantino and he picks a good cast. I'll be interested to see how some of the actors pull off accents, (particularly JGL with an Australian one)

But, what was he thinking with Jamie Foxx? I just don't see him as Django. Idris Elba was the best choice imo.

I don't think IB was a film of "sameness" for Tarantino. I agree he got in a rut in the last decade with the Kill Bills and Death Proof. He was kind of coasting. But in IB he really pushed himself and created a film that celebrated the wonderful escapism of movies...by rewriting history the way we'd want it--as a movie--and avoiding tough questions like murder, torture, etc. It was a great piece of escapism that really challenged viewers at the same time with memorable characters and a fantastic finale.

I feel he is on his second wind now and expect more great things.

I don't agree with that. Kill Bill is my favorite film of his.
I think that since he had established himself, he's had time to do films that are kind of love letters to the movies he loves. Django is no exception.
