The gameplay looks better than in the previous video. If it has a great story, then I might get it.
Does it have a release date?

The characters is still too massively unappealing for me.

That gameplay does look like fun and if you look at like 37 seconds into it, you can see the old white haired, red jacket Dante. I'm assuming its a powerup of some sort.

When he goes into Devil Trigger, he looks like that

I really want this game to be good, but man, I jus can get over that change to Dante's appearance, we've known about this for months and even so, it still hasnt really grown onto me

Neither for me however I remain hopeful. The gameplay looks solid enough to make me buy it, and I honestly hope that the crazy weapons and combos remain intact.

With any luck, Capcom will allow players to play as Dante's original look via $10 Classic Skin DLC pack. You know they are gonna go there

OK, I don't know ANYTHING about Devil May Cry, but what is the difference between this Dante and the old?

The only differences I can see are slightly modified clothes, skinnier frame, and the hair. Unless these are the changes you are complaining about, I'm missing the big picture...

You know, you basically described 80% of the design there :/

I think that is gonna remain intact, they learned their lesson from DMC2 by toning down Dante's transition from pistols to swords, didn't work well at all. And speaking of DMC2, I hope all of Dante's moves are useful in combat unlike how DMC2, the wall run and stuff was useless IMO

I can see that happening, it would be cool if they had all of the skins for Dante throughout the DMC series :awesome:

He's a little different, though. No more emo hair, it seems, which is great:

If this is what happens before DMC3, and before he becomes ''fully half-demon'', then I guess I'm ok with it. Just hoping for great gameplay and story. Also hope they don't bastardize his humor.

I guess I'm the crowd that believes you only change something if its necessary. I never saw anything wrong with Dante's original look, so Capcom changing it was kinda like wth for me. The same was done to Rad in Bionic Commando and I thought that looked a bit ridiculous, but thats just me, I'm still gonna get the game regardless though

It was like wth for a lot of people, including me.
I remember many fans going mad over that and I was one of them. We can only wait, now.

It's not so much of the aesthetic that bugs me about the new game. I hate the look of the new "Dante" but I can get over that sort of thing. What has me worried is the fact that they changed things to appeal to an American audience, which to me, takes away from Devil May Cry's charm.

A huge part of the fun of the original DMC games is that they are ridiculously over the top, even by Japanese standards. It's one of those things where the dialogue is so bad it's good. The character do weird little dances, they speak in long drawn-out unnecessary monologues, ridiculous plot twists, giant monsters with sophisticated accents, and ear-shredding heavy metal music. Dante has a fun devil may care attitude even when he's facing great odds and almost certain death. He is never grim, gritty, or edgy in a serious way.

Stuff like that is what separated DMC from other titles and made them fun.

So my fear with this new game is that they're just going to toss all of that out the window in an attempt to Westernize the title. The look itself isn't a deal breaker for me, but it's a very bad sign that they're looking to change DMC to appeal to a wider audience. And for some reason the answer to that is always, “Let’s make the main character more emo!”

I could be wrong. The changes could be aesthetic only and the game could still turn out awesome and feel like a DMC game. We'll just have to wait. For me, anticipating this game is like waiting for my mom to make one of my favorite meals, but instead of getting the ingredients from the same store she's always shopped at, she went to the new fancy store that only sells organic products. Something in the kitchen just doesn't smell right to me.

Eh, admittedly it's not like a complete overhaul, but the aesthetic is definitely a very different style. It gives off a much, for the lack of better term, grunge feel to it that the original model never really did. Even when they gave Dante a more 'dark' pose or something, there was still this clean cut look to the whole thing. It was one of the things that kind of distinguished him in a lot of ways. Sometimes it doesn't necessarily take major changes to change up a character's look.

I dont really have a problem with them changing up a characters look to a degree for a reboot, but i just liked the old Dante a LOT more than this one. But those images are pretty cool.

I still don't get where this game stands, is it a reboot or a prequel?

Reboot? That's why there's a new Dante?
I didn't know there was a 5th DMC announced last year, just experimented and saw the trailer, initial thoughts:
1. Who TF is that? Where's Dante?
2. (As he says his name) WTF?! Say what? That's who? That's not him

Like it is said in Wikipedia, I also think it is an origin story that reveals how Dante comes to grips with his demonic heritage, being set then before DMC3, which has still to be confirmed. If that's what it is, then I guess I'm ok with that.

DMC continuity is so messed up

It's not really hard to put the timeline together,

Original Continuity

Devil May Cry 3

Devil May Cry

Devil May Cry 2

Devil May Cry 4

I hope you've played the games Spider-Aziz and just didn't watch them on youtube :oldrazz:

Devil May Cry 4 comes before DMC2, actually. I agree that it's messed up.
The anime takes place between 1 and 4.

By my hammer, I STRIKE

Seriously now, GET OVER IT. I only judged one game where every level is the same, needed I waste time on such B.S? Story sucks, gameplay sucks, how highly it was praised when it's $#%^ sucks, cheap God of War (I like GoW, don't put me down for it) knock offs suck, suck suck SUCK

Game series like Zelda and DmC continuity are messed up, compare DmC with its sequels/prequels to Resident Evil and its sequels/prequels, huge difference
