Capcom’s "Devil May Cry 4" Goes Multiplatform! Mega-hit Title set for PLAYSTATION® 3, Xbox 360™ and PC!

Capcom Co., Ltd., a world-wide leader in the gaming industry, is proud to announce the development of "Devil May Cry 4" for the PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360™ and PC platforms.
"Devil May Cry" is a series of popular, stylish action games, with a cast of unforgettable characters. Since the release of the original "Devil May Cry" in 2001, the series has shipped 6,800,000 copies as of December 31st, 2006, proudly making it one of Capcom's flagship titles. The series appeal is not limited to games; an animated TV series to be broadcast on Japan's WOWOW network is slated to air Spring 2007. The latest iteration, "Devil May Cry 4" will take advantage of each platform's hardware strengths to achieve the most stunning visuals in the series to date, and the introduction of a mysterious new protagonist will keep the action fast and fresh. Even before its release, "Devil May Cry 4" has been met with tremendous anticipation, as fans patiently endured long lines at TOKYO GAME SHOW 2006 for the chance to play the demo. "Devil May Cry 4" will be released simultaneously for the PLAYSTATION®3 and Xbox 360™ platforms.

Capcom was among the first software developers in the world to make games for the next-generation consoles, and those efforts have been met with great success. In addition, Capcom's use of an integrated development environment is one of the many methods being employed to improve efficiency and help take advantage of the cutting-edge functionality in next-generation systems.

Capcom will continue to produce titles that appeal to users while pursuing a multiplatform strategy to help enhance profits.

Wow, I'd pegged a multiplatform release of the DMC4 special edition, but wow. Sony, what are you doing.

Muahahahahah! This is the best news in a long time.

I love you Zenien, just for actually posting this.

So this leaves Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 (only 13) as exclusive third party games left for the PS3. This does not bode well.

*Evil laugh*

How is it hell freezing over? I mean, this was inevitable.

It is your destiny, Zenien...

I burn up on the inside knowing that I have one less exclusive to rub in the faces of my Sony-hating rivals... But I take relish knowing that I'll have my revenge, when Ninja Gaiden 2 and Dead Rising 2 are announced for PS3!!!

You realize that is never going to happen.. right?

Less unlikely then DMC4 going Multiplatform!

I just had to come over here and post.

That is all.

Oh, and Capcom already strongly hinted that Dead Rising 2 is 360 and PS3.

:HUGSIES:

3rd party exclusives are going to be few and far between this generation. Xbox 360 is already loosing "exclusive franchises" like Elder Scrolls and Ghost Recon AW 2 to being multiplatform, and there are lots of rumors that Dead Rising 2 might be coming to PS3, along with Ninja Gaiden 2 (which may hinge on Ninja Gaiden Sigma's sales).

The only exclusives that you can count on this generation will be from first parties, like the two "G of War" franchises that everyone's talking about.

GRAW 2 was never exclusive at all

Yes, but the first one was, and Ghost Recon 2 was Xbox exclusive. The PS3 is getting franchises that have traditionally been Xbox-only or Xbox and PC-only, so it's not like the loss of exclusive 3rd party games is a one-way street. The only reason Xbox 360 even has so many 3rd party exclusives right now is because until PS3 came out, 360 was the only next-gen system to release them on. Now that the PS3 is out though, the sequels to those games will most likely be multiplatform.

Let's see: Oblivion...Virtual Tennis 5...is that it? 2 games?? I think I'm forgetting one or two, but certainly not anything like what Sony's been losing.

How many exclusives has Sony lost?
-Guitar Hero
-Devil May Cry
-Virtua Fighter
-Katamari Demacy
-Final Fantasy XI
-Armored Core
-Grand Theft Auto
-Assassin's Creed
-Fatal Inertia
any else? Again, as with the XBOX exclusives, I'm sure I've forgotten a few here, too.

The only reason Xbox 360 even has so many 3rd party exclusives right now is because until PS3 came out, 360 was the only next-gen system to release them on. Now that the PS3 is out though, the sequels to those games will most likely be multiplatform.

The question being...as we come closer and closer to PS3 and XBOX360 having the same selection of games, more and more people are realizing that it's not worth getting the system that costs $200 extra for the same games. Each XBOX exclusive lost is much much less of a problem than each Playstation exclusive.

"Oblivion is coming to the PS3, too?? Great! Let me get on that $200-more expensive console for that!"

"Devil May Cry is coming to the XBOX360, too?? Great! Now I don't have to spend the extra $200 to get that game!"

Which one sounds more realistic?

$600 well saved.

Who cares about Fatal Inertia!? PS3 has Armored Core 4!!
Who cares about Armored Core 4!? PS3 has Resident Evil 5!!
Who cares about Resident Evil 5!? PS3 has Assassin's Creed!!
Who cares about Assassin's Creed!? PS3 has Mercenaries 2!!
Who cares about Mercenaries 2!? PS3 has Virtua Fighter 5!!
Who cares about Virtua Fighter 5!? PS3 has Ace Combat 6!!
Who cares about Ace Combat 6!? PS3 has Katamari Damacy!!
Who cares about Katamari Damacy!? PS3 has GTA IV!!
Who cares about GTA IV!! PS3 has Devil May Cry 4!!
Who cares about Devil May Cry 4!? PS3 has ______________!!

Unless/Until the PS3 gains a significant presence in the US, American targeted games will continue to come to the 360.

Resident Evil 5
Assassins Creed
GTA IV
DMC 4
most likely MGS 4

I'm infiinately happy I ended up going with a 360. I originally planned on getting both, 360 for Gears, Halo, Dead Rising, Ninja Gaiden, and Fable - PS3 for many of the above mentioned, seems I'll be saving some money, odd I never envisioned it ending up this way, I always thought I'd be a Sony man until I died.

Sony you had the PS and then the PS2 you were great. But now your going to die a slow death like sega did. Oh how I knew ye.

the problem with sega is they did'nt have enough money to keep going. impretty sure sony has lots ofmoney left over. i can definitely see thier gaming divison go under tho.

What? Capcom porting a game to another system? That's something new
